JOB DESCRIPTION The Small Business Data & Analytics team is looking for team members that are passionate about the data required to accelerate product development, drive business growth, and improve the Chase customer experience. A successful Area Data Owner (ADO) is important to the firms agenda of enabling the business to drive faster innovation through the use of its data, while simultaneously ensuring that the data is clearly documented, of good quality and well-protected. This role is responsible for all data in the product that is created, provisioned, or consumed to support business objectives, advanced analytics, business operations, and reporting functions. The ADO serves as a subject matter expert that will help define, classify, and publish data critical to their business area. The ADO will also collaborate with technology and business partners to ensure that required data is delivered in a manner consistent with the quality and safety requirements of the business. In support of these functions, the ADO will be responsible for executing processes and procedures that identify, monitor, and mitigate data risks throughout the data life cycle in compliance with Firmwide policies and standards. As such, the successful candidate will be one who is able to scan across a large ecosystem of data, research, and other customer insights, to develop and influence critical initiatives and marketing strategies across teams and channels. Job Responsibilities: This is a vital hands-on role so were looking for exceptionally creative, ambitious, "data curious" thinkers who can help to extract true business value from data. A typical day might include:
Create plans for the development and delivery of Small Business data to support strategic business objectives, business operations, advanced analytics, and reporting.
Work with key partners to identify the scope of critical data within the product, ensuring that the prioritized data is well-documented as to its meaning and purpose, and classified accordingly with metadata to enable its understanding and control.
Serve as a subject matter expert with multiple stakeholders to drive a strong understanding of the data and its use within the business and across lines of business and functions.
Support the aligned Data & Analytics lead for their product by identifying data required to be integrated into analytics platforms to support analytics projects.
Document requirements for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data within the product, and coordinate with technology and business partners to deliver data quality requirements. Develop processes and procedures to identify, monitor, and mitigate data risks for data in the product, including risks related to data protection, data retention and destruction, data storage, data use, and data quality.
Partner with technology and business resources to resolve identified data issues in a timely and consistent manner.
Develop relationships with product data delivery partners and data consumers, including leaders in the Business, Technology, Analytics, Operations, Risk and Control functions.
Manage the execution of a set of milestones. Understand and mitigate risks, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies in the product development lifecycle with respect to data.
Manage direct or matrixed staff to execute data-related tasks.
Leadership: The ideal candidate will (at a minimum) exhibit the below leadership abilities:
Mentor and coach a small group of 2-3 FTEs, operate and manage projects end to end
Make smart decisions that will have an impact on both business and people
Solve business problems having highest complexity level
Should be self-motivated and able to coach team for consistent high performance
Able to help manager in identifying and onboarding talents across industry, mentor newer team members and identify growth opportunities for existing team members
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:
10+ years of industry experience in a data-related field.
Experience managing delivery across multiple workstreams with varying timelines.
Experience with creating process and data flows and business requirement documentation.
Proven ability to execute via internal partnerships. Understanding of Agile (Scrum) technical development methodology.
Strong ability to work in uncertain operational environment, while staying organized and driving initiatives forward.
Expertise in data technologies such as data warehousing, data management & governance, data integration, big data, business intelligence, and machine learning.
Subject matter expertise in Small Business Banking business, process, or product data is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:
Domain Expertise
Understanding and practical experience in big data engineering, analytics, machine learning or Public Cloud related technologies & their applications
Knowledge of query or analytical programming languages; Use of bitbucket and data management pipelines; use agile delivery tools i.e., JIRA
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of cloud-based technologies
Product lifecycle experience / area product management experience
Knowledge of ETL principles or data structures
Have a demonstrated ability to think both independently and collaboratively to implement creative solutions that solve business problems, being diligent in the detail while maintaining focus on broader purpose and business objectives
