Hybrid Working

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Were flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances These requests will be reviewed and agreed for a period of time i.e., will have a start and end date.

Introduction:

The overall purpose of the role is to perform data modeling , design the BSL (Business Semantic Layer) data model which will help migrate the existing Consumption workloads onto AWS. This role is important in delivering BPF reports, fulfilling ad-hoc data requests from the BSL data model. The role plays a key part in the roadmap to migrate the existing BPF warehouse from SQL Server to AWS. The data modeler can also perform the data modeling for the other use cases being implemented on EDP.

What will you be doing?

o Design the data models that are suited for Strategic DW use case using E/R Studio
o Define the source to target data mapping capturing the business transformation logic for the defined target data model
o Work with the Build / Delivery teams to implement the data model for a use case
o Work closely with the business teams e.g., ACE to help them deliver the increased value from the BSLs implemented on EDP
o Understand the source system data model/s and the source data for data mapping purposes

What were looking for:

  • Graduate with preferred specialisation in IT, Mathematics with relevant work experience or satisfying the relevant skills (above).
  • Relevant work experience in some or all of the skills below
Technical skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of big data technologies like PySpark, hive, MLiB & Hadoop echo system
  • Strong knowledge of full Hadoop/Spark, ETL, Data modelling, ApaaS skills.
  • Good exposure to emerging cloud technologies in the AIML Space, an exposure to AWS is a plus
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis on internal and external processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • End-to-end software development lifecycle and methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile).
  • Cloud/Machine language knowledge would be added advantage.
  • Logical and physical data modelling using a modelling tool such as E/R Studio
  • Define the data mapping specifications keeping in view the ETL implementation aspects like Surrogate Key generation logic, Reference data look ups etc
  • Analyse and profile the source system data for data mapping and identify the Data quality issues
  • Experience in designing reporting data marts used to support reporting KPIs
Soft Skills
  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and convert abstract ideas into actionable requirements
  • Ability to work with ambiguous situations and uncertainty
  • Out of the box thinking to solve real world problems
  • Should be able to juggle between multiple priorities efficiently
  • Ability to encourage and inspire team to help realise their potential, providing knowledge and guidance to all team members as required.
  • Work collaboratively with teams across different geographic locations and contribute to Machine Learning capability.
  • Good presentation skills - Should be able to present findings and insights in a manner understandable to business.
Skills that will help you in the role:-
  • Graduate with preferred specialisation in IT
  • Exposure to Banking and Finance domains, as well as technology within banking/finance.
  • Awareness of management information tools and systems.
  • Knowledge of RDBMS such as Teradata and Oracle and work on SQL based ETL
  • Knowledge of AWS tools will be preferred
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following business domain areas - current / savings accounts, mortgage, personal loans, business banking and insurance will be an advantage
