Job Title: Data Governance Analyst



Overview:



We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Governance Analyst to join our team. As a Data Governance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, quality, and security of our data assets. You will collaborate with various teams, including software developers, database architects, data analysts, and data scientists, to establish and maintain data governance policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to work effectively with multiple cross-functional teams.



Responsibilities:



1. Data Governance Framework: Develop and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.



2. Data Quality Management: Establish and implement data quality standards and processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.



3. Data Privacy and Security: Collaborate with the IT and security teams to define data privacy and security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).



4. Data Classification and Cataloging: Define and implement a data classification and cataloging strategy to enable efficient data discovery and access.



5. Data Lineage and Traceability: Establish mechanisms to track and document the origin, movement, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.



6. Data Access and Usage Controls: Implement access controls and permissions to ensure appropriate data access and usage based on roles and responsibilities.



7. Data Retention and Archiving: Define data retention and archiving policies to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.



8. Data Governance Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to promote data governance awareness and ensure adherence to data governance policies.



Qualifications:



1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.



2. 3-5 years of experience in data governance roles.



3. Proficiency in Python programming and experience working with cloud platforms like AWS (e.g., S3, Glue, Snowflake, REST API).



4. Strong knowledge of SQL programming and experience working with relational databases, including Redshift.



5. Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and datasets.



6. Excellent analytical skills for working with unstructured datasets and extracting insights.



7. Strong problem-solving skills to identify data issues and provide programmatic solutions.



8. Familiarity with data analytics, data integration, and visualization using BI tools.



9. Experience conducting root cause analysis on data and processes to identify improvement opportunities.



10. Strong project management, presentation and organizational skills. Must be able to build and present presentations to stakeholders



11. Collaborative personality with experience working in cross-functional teams.
