JOB DISCRIPTION:

The Dark fiber/ broadband coordinator in the Telecom Industry plays a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service to clients. This role requires a blend of communication skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities to manage customer inquiries, complaints, technical issues, and service requests related to telecommunications services (such as broadband , Dark fiber services, etc.).

A Dark Fiber/Broadband Coordinator is a professional who specifically manages the deployment, maintenance, and utilization of dark fiber networks and broadband infrastructure. The term "dark fiber" refers to fiber-optic cables that are not currently in use or are unlit, meaning they do not carry active data traffic. These fibers can be leased or sold to service providers, enterprises, or other entities to create private, high-capacity, or custom broadband networks.

A Dark Fiber/Broadband Coordinator plays a critical role in overseeing the infrastructure that supports high-speed internet, particularly in areas where broadband expansion is critical, such as rural or underserved regions. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, project management, and an understanding of both the broadband and fiber-optic industries.

Key Responsibilities of a Dark Fiber/Broadband Coordinator:1. Managing Dark Fiber Infrastructure:

• Oversee the deployment of dark fiber networks, including installation, maintenance, and operational management.
• Ensure that dark fiber resources are utilized efficiently and are available for leasing or use by businesses or ISPs (Internet Service Providers).
• Work with telecom carriers, enterprises, and government bodies to lease or sell dark fiber as a resource for expanding broadband coverage.

2. Network Design and Planning:

• Coordinate the design and planning of fiber-optic networks, ensuring they meet the needs of the service area, whether for public, private, or enterprise use.
• Assess the demand for dark fiber in the region and forecast future needs based on growth patterns, technological advancements, and demand from businesses or ISPs.

3. Coordination with Service Providers:

• Collaborate with telecommunications companies, internet service providers, and enterprises that will light (activate) the dark fiber to create a high-speed broadband network.
• Negotiate contracts for fiber leasing agreements and ensure that the technical specifications align with the needs of clients.

4. Managing Broadband Expansion Projects:

• Coordinate projects for broadband network expansion, ensuring dark fiber infrastructure is leveraged to its fullest capacity.
• Manage the rollout of broadband services, particularly in underserved or rural areas, by partnering with public or private sector entities to expand access to high-speed internet.

5. Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management:

• Work closely with local governments, private companies, and public organizations to ensure collaboration on broadband initiatives.
• Serve as the point of contact for inquiries related to dark fiber availability, maintenance, and usage.

6. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to fiber-optic infrastructure and broadband services.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes that may impact dark fiber deployment and broadband expansion.
• Prepare regular reports on network status, performance, usage, and future plans for stakeholders or governing bodies.

7. Fiber Network Optimization:

• Continuously assess the performance of dark fiber infrastructure to identify areas for improvement or expansion.
• Oversee upgrades and maintenance of dark fiber networks to ensure optimal performance and future scalability.

8. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide technical support for troubleshooting issues in the fiber-optic network, including ensuring that light levels, signal strength, and overall performance meet required standards.
• Coordinate with technical teams to resolve issues and perform fiber-optic network maintenance when necessary.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

• Fiber-Optic Technology: Understanding of fiber-optic networks, including both dark and lit fiber, optical signals, and how data is transmitted through these networks.
• Broadband Infrastructure: Familiarity with broadband technologies (e.g., fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP), 5G, and wireless networks).
• Project Management: Ability to oversee complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, timelines, and budgets.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of telecommunications laws, fiber leasing regulations, and government broadband policies.
• Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of network architecture, fiber optics, and internet technologies.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with different departments, clients, and stakeholders.
• Negotiation Skills: Experience negotiating contracts for fiber leases or other broadband agreements with service providers, municipalities, and enterprises.
• Experience: Experience in broadband networks, fiber-optic infrastructure, telecommunications project management, or network engineering is highly beneficial.

Knowledge about Excel is must

English & Kannada is must.
