  • Ensuring focus on strategic delivery for IRRBB and managing the delivery of regional and global strategy.
  • Operations: Developing and managing the implementation of IRRBB operational plans and priorities, to manage delivery of the agreed strategy.
  • Commercial: Focus on delivering strong commercial goals and objectives at regional and global level; contributing to strategic plans and managing teams to achieve them.
  • Delivery: Managing transformation activities in order to achieve specified standards, results and outputs.
  • Provide strategic management and ensure teams have the appropriate technical and product linked skills and resources.
  • Manage to ensure that all Treasury procedures are adhered to and refined and ensure that strong working relationships are developed and maintained with all other Business Support and functional teams.
  • Liaise with all regulatory parties internal and external as required.
  • Ensuring the business operates using accepted global and local standards, processes and principles
  • Ensure all Transformation team members are credible professionals in order to deliver appropriate and sustainable outcomes from and for customers.
Customers/Stakeholders
  • Networking, developing and nurturing key working relationships within our stakeholder community (Global Businesses as well as Regions/Countries/Functions) by anticipating and identifying their needs.
  • Regulator/external and Internal bodies: Building and maintaining relationships with external and internal partners, regulators, industry bodies and others to keep up to date with developments.
  • Represent the business line at governance committees and forums to ensure that key objectives are prioritised appropriately.
  • Help to deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
  • Critical in ensuring that the Markets Treasury business operates efficiently, does so within the agreed risk appetite and in full compliance with all Regulations and Group requirements.
Leadership and Teamwork
  • Develop and communicate a clear vision that is aligned to the overall HSBC vision, Values and goals, and inspires and engages people to create an inclusive, high performing, customer acentric culture
  • Lead, develop and motivate teams to attract, retain and develop the capacity, capability and talent to provide for succession and ensure delivery of business objectives.
  • Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop staff / colleagues to ensure that they maximise their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience.
  • Lead and encourage constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action and taking prompt action to address any activities and behaviours that are not consistent with HSBC's diversity policy and/or the best interests of the business and its customers.
Operational Effectiveness and Control
  • Lead the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, structures, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to deliver agreed plans and targets, collaborating with colleagues to maximise end to end integration, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment to ensure good operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.
  • Lead the implementation and oversight of policy and governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy/FIM requirements)
  • The jobholder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures

  • This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators. Through the implementation the Global AML, Sanctions and ABC Policies, supporting Guidance, and Line of Business Procedures the jobholder will make informed decisions in accordance with the core principles of HSBC's Financial Crime Risk Appetite
Management of Risk (Operational Risk/FIM requirements)
  • The jobholder will ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organisation
  • This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours that form part of the HSBC Values and culture and adhering to HSBC risk policies and procedures, including notification and escalation of any concerns and taking required action in relation to points raised by audit and/or external regulators
  • The jobholder is responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day to day operations particularly in the delivery and embedded end-state of Transformation actvity. In executing these responsibilities, the Group has adopted risk management and internal control structure referred to as the Three Lines of Defence. The jobholder should ensure they understand their position within the Three Lines of Defence, and act accordingly in line with operational risk policy, escalating in a timely manner where they are unsure of actions required
Requirements
  • Substantial experience in a Treasury business environment in a leadership role
  • Relevant education and professional qualification an advantage but not a must
  • Strong knowledge of IRRBB risk management, particularly provision of IRRBB related MI and regulatory reporting, governance frameworks, and external regulatory environment
  • Relevant product knowledge with emphasis on banking book products, structural hedging frameworks, and associated modelling and metrics (NII, EVE etc), across a combination of regulatory requirements and optimisation initiatives, with role-relevant qualifications, i.e. Accounting, Financial Analysis or similar
  • Experience with relevant IRRBB systems, data and modelling infrastructure.
  • A broad understanding of financial budgets/ models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting
  • Good broad understanding of broader treasury operations and banking issues - Liquidity, funding and cash management, capital, transfer pricing would be helpful.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and project management skills
  • Proven experience and ability in resolving complex issues through leadership, influence and negotiation with a variety of stakeholder across geography, discipline and the governance chain
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills; strong track record in engaging, challenging and influencing business performance in a large matrix organisation
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner with senior management
