Position Title: Counselor for Law Institute Timings: 9:00 Am to 6:00 Pm Location : Gopalpura Bypass Road Salary: 15000 to 22000 Experience : 6 month Position Overview: The Counselor for Law Institute plays a crucial role in providing guidance, support, and counseling services to students enrolled in the law institute. They are responsible for offering academic, personal, and professional counseling to help students navigate the challenges of law school, develop essential skills, and achieve their academic and career goals. This position requires a deep understanding of the legal profession, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide effective guidance and support to a diverse student population. Key Responsibilities:
  • Academic Counseling:
  • Provide academic counseling to students to help them understand course requirements, select appropriate courses, and develop effective study strategies.
  • Assist students in setting academic goals and developing plans to achieve them.
  • Monitor students\' academic progress and intervene when necessary to address academic challenges.
  • Personal Counseling:
  • Offer personal counseling and support to students facing personal challenges that may impact their academic performance or well-being.
  • Provide a safe and confidential space for students to discuss personal issues, stress, anxiety, and other concerns.
  • Refer students to appropriate resources and support services as needed, such as mental health services or student support groups.
  • Career Counseling:
  • Guide students in exploring career options within the legal profession, including private practice, public interest law, government, and corporate law.
  • Assist students in developing resumes, cover letters, and other application materials.
  • Provide support and guidance in preparing for job interviews, networking events, and career fairs.
  • Skill Development:
  • Offer workshops and seminars on essential skills for law students, such as legal research and writing, time management, and stress management.
  • Provide individual coaching and support to help students develop effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify opportunities for skills development and integrate them into the curriculum.
  • Crisis Intervention:
  • Respond to crises or emergencies involving students, such as mental health crises, academic misconduct, or personal emergencies.
  • Coordinate with appropriate campus resources, such as counseling services, student affairs, or campus security, to ensure timely and effective support for students in crisis.
  • Outreach and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment for law students.
  • Participate in orientation programs, student organizations, and other events to engage with students and provide support.
  • Develop partnerships with external organizations, such as legal clinics, bar associations, and alumni networks, to provide additional resources and opportunities for students.
Qualifications:
  • Master\'s degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • License or certification in counseling or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a counseling or advising role, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of the legal profession, law school admissions, and legal career paths.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
