About the Team You will be part of the Design Operations Team, a critical group within the Instructional Design team (Design Team), which includes team members in the US and India, and the broader Learning team, which has team members across the globe. The Design team plays a critical role in developing our online course offerings, and ensuring they meet the world-class standards of us and our partner institutions. The person in this role will report to the Associate Director of Design Operations. As a Copyright Specialist on the Design Operations team, you will work to create and improve processes related to Copyright inquiries from the team, review Copyright requests, research and escalate complicated requests to the Emeritus Legal team, as needed. The person in this role will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary point of contact for the Design Team on Copyright, including Emeritus\' internal policy, acting as a steward of the policy, and enforcing it as appropriate. Roles & Responsibilities : Serve as the Design team\'s Copyright Policy SME and primary point of contact field questions, make determinations, seek permissions, and provide training to staff on an ongoing basis. Manage and complete requests in the internal Copyright request queue reaching out to organizations for permission, and partnering with the team to find alternative assets. Work cross-functionally with other departments to procure licensing and ensure licensing costs are tracked and allocated to the correct projects. Partner with Emeritus\' Legal team to stay current with IP/Copyright law and policies. Partner with Operations Lead on analyzing the course development pipeline to determineand plan for upcoming IP and Copyright needs. Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree or higher. Minimum 3 years of experience in Intellectual Property and or Copyright preferably in an academic setting. Demonstrated understanding of fair use and licensing fee structures in academia. Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated ability to distill and communicate complicated legal concepts. Exceptional organization skills and ability to self-manage, knowing when to shift and re-prioritize based on competing demands.
