About the role
The coordinator SHES- Environment. The role of a Coordinator in an environmental context typically involves managing and overseeing various initiatives related to environmental protection, sustainability, and compliance. This job assists with the development of local procedures and initiatives, incorporating identified leading practices, to enable compliance to SHES Group Mandate and Standards.
What you will be doing
Working under the guidance of the SHES Manager and Senior Specialist Environment, the responsibilities for this role include:
• Planning, implementing, and overseeing environmental projects or programs, ensuring they meet objectives, stay within budget, and are completed on schedule.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and laws by staying informed on local, state, and federal environmental policies and procedures.
• Collecting and analyzing environmental impact data, such as emissions, waste production, or resource use, preparing reports, and providing recommendations for improvements.
• Acting as a liaison between the organization and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, community groups, and environmental organizations, to facilitate communication and address concerns.
• Developing and delivering training programs on environmental practices, regulations, and sustainability initiatives for staff and stakeholders.
• Managing the organization's natural resource use, developing strategies to minimize waste, and promoting recycling and efficient resource usage.
• Tracking environmental performance metrics and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in environmental practices.
• Assisting in the development and implementation of environmental policies and practices that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting the Senior Specialist Environment with fieldwork, daily environmental tasks, and remediation efforts.
• Preparing applications and documentation required for obtaining or renewing environmental permits and licenses.
• Handling paperwork and submissions to regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental laws and standards.
• Gathering and analyzing data related to environmental performance, including waste generation, energy consumption, and emissions.
• Developing detailed procedures to implement environmental practices and compliance measures.
• Documenting internal or external audit results, including findings, non-compliance issues, and corrective actions.
What you will bring
• A degree in Science (Environment or Chemistry) or a related field, at either the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
• Strong knowledge of environmental monitoring tools, data analysis software, and sustainability practices.
• Proficient in both written and verbal English communication.
• At least 3 years of experience in the environmental field.
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
