Achieving gender equality and women\'s empowerment is an essential element of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - the roadmap to a more equal, just, peaceful, and sustainable world. UN Women is implementing a catalytic accelerator project for achieving women\'s social, economic, and political equality and empowerment and the 2030 agenda. The overarching objective of this project is: To accelerate progress on the 2030 agenda, especially SDG 5, by strengthening women\'s leadership in the areas of economic, social, and political rights. The project is being implemented in India over three years. More specifically, the proposed outcome of the project are: Increased awareness and ownership of the global Generation Equality agenda, especially its constituted action coalitions related to economic justice and rights and gender based violence. Gender intentional policies and programs (especially related to safety, and mobility) informed and scaled up by the government, focused on two key policies (i) Smart and Safe cities, (ii) One Stop Centers for addressing violence against women. G20 Summit prioritizes gender equality across tracks - Improved awareness and capacities across Indian decision makers on gender equality impacting the stronger implementation of gender-just laws. Gender equality is mainstreamed across UN Country Team processes. Communications reflect UN Women\'s priorities. Embedded within the project, and UN Women\'s core work towards promoting women\'s role in peace building, intergovernmental processes, UN interagency coordination, this position plays a central role to deliver on UN Women\'s normative functions and strengthens linkages between normative work and operational activities. The role also has special responsibility for the coordination of support to intergovernmental and expert bodies and across the UN system in India. Reporting to the Country Programme Manager - Intergovernmental Processes, the Coordinator - Intergovernmental Processes coordinates the CO\'s communication, negotiation and agreements with intergovernmental institutions and key networks such as the Community Sector Advisory Group, The Feminist Policy Collective, to name a few. This role links policy and advocacy support for both the India Governments normative work on gender, to the CO\'s programme and policy work so that the CO is aligned and able to provide effective technical support to intergovernmental institutions. This role also provides support across the UN in India to help UN sister agencies effectively mainstream gender equality and women\'s empowerment. It links closely with the communications teams for campaigns and collaborates with networks in civil society and the private sector to advocate a conducive normative framework for women in India. The position will also collaborate with the Regional Office and Headquarters on the regional and global normative commitments for gender equality. Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate and implement the Intergovernmental Programme/Portfolios: Coordinate the overall Programme/Portfolio work plan development and implementation according to Strategic Note/ programme document Gather inputs and coordinate the preparation of work-plans, periodic narrative progress reports and expenditures status reports to the Programme Board and UN Women Establish systems for project planning, implementation and monitoring, in collaboration with partners Record and maintain documents on relevant Programme activities, issues, and risks. Implement intergovernmental portfolio with partners: Coordinate relationships with national partners to support implementation and expansion of the intergovernmental Programme/Portfolio, raise potential problems and suggest solutions Identify capacity building needs and support partners through technical assistance, mentoring, training and capacity development initiatives, as needed Deliver programme with partners as required. Coordinate the monitoring and reporting on the Intergovernmental Programme/Portfolios: Gather and compile all information necessary for monitoring and reporting on programmes and projects from the planning to the evaluation stages Monitor the implementation of activities and the expenditure of funds conduct regular monitoring visits, as required Draft and provide inputs to annual and quarterly reports coordinate the submission of implementing partner financial and narrative reports Provide inputs from Intergovernmental programme activities and results to India Country Office reporting. Manage people and finances of the Intergovernmental programme: Coordinate development and preparation of financial resources of the programme including budgeting and budget revisions, and expenditure tracking and reporting Monitor the allocation and disbursement of funds to participating partners Supervise Programme Associates and Assistants. Build partnerships and support in developing resource mobilization strategies: Provide inputs to the development of partnerships and resource mobilization strategies. Advocate and facilitate knowledge building and management and communication: Document the programme implementation process and products Contribute to the exchange of information and provide inputs to the development of knowledge products internally and externally of the programme Coordinate the organization of major advocacy campaigns, events, trainings, workshops and knowledge products. Key Performance Indicators: Timely and quality implementation of Programme/Portfolio/ activities against set workplans, timelines, and budgets, in line with the Strategic Note. Quality and timely reporting. Strong relations with partners and stakeholders. Regular and timely monitoring of activities. Enhanced best practices and lessons learned documented and circulated. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A project/programme management certification (such as PMP , PRINCE2 , or MSP ) would be an added advantage. Experience: At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience at the national or international level in managing complex and multi-component programme interventions with national partners, preferably related to thematic area Experience in coordinating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating development programmes and projects is an asset. Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Hindi is required Working knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
