Our Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) division serves our Chase customers through a range of financial services, including personal banking, credit cards, mortgages, auto financing, investment advice, small business loans and payment processing. The CCB Finance Controllers is responsible for several control initiatives and works closely with many areas across CCB. The group is involved with control initiatives relating to CCB that include, but are not limited to the following:

Quality Assurance Program: The Quality Assurance Team is responsible for assessing and addressing regulatory and external reporting risks within CCB, including validation and enhancement of financial and regulatory reporting data integrity

Resolution and Recovery Plans: RnR program management team is responsible for planning, execution and implementation of requirements relating to the required Resolution & Recovery Plans. (The Dodd-Frank Act requires large, systemically important financial institutions such as JPMorgan to submit Board-approved Recovery & Resolution Plans (RRPs, a.k.a. Living Wills) to US regulators annually and upon the occurrence of material changes to the Company. Recovery Plans need to demonstrate how the firm would recover if the firm were to experience significant decreases in capital and liquidity as a result of a severe, crisis event. These plans are a strategic priority for the firm)

Job Responsibilities :

  • The candidate should be able to perform an independent review and validation of external reporting processes and data to mitigate the risk of external reporting errors.
  • The candidate must be an experienced professional who possesses strong auditing skills, a strong understanding of internal control systems within a financial institution, and knowledge of the consumer businesses and products
  • Provide support for Consumer and Business Banking Finance Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and CCAR CFO Attestation Programs (CCAP) including an understanding of business and IT risk and controls, control breaks and resolutions, to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk
  • Perform design and operating effectiveness testing of business and IT SOX/ CCAP controls. Including but not limited to:
  • Documenting the narratives and flows related to key processes and controls within CCB
  • Assessing design and operating effectiveness of business and IT control supporting SOX/CCAP programs
  • Risk Assessment review by 10K financial statement line item for both quantitative and qualitative risk factors
  • Continually assessing and enhancing existing processes to support ongoing evolution of the framework and related standards
  • Partnering with LOB, finance, risk and/or technology stakeholders to support consistent implementation of the SOX / CCAP framework
  • Assist in validation and closure of SOX/ CCAP Issues and related Action Plans
  • Program Management - Assist in ongoing implementation and monitoring of Control Programs impacting CCB Finance such as Intelligent Solution Standards, Model / Estimations Governance, User Tools. Monitor adherence to CCB and Firmwide Policies and Standards. Maintain integrity of program management/reporting documentation and provide when requested for various reviews
  • Core Administration - Contribute to the development and enhancement of the business control environment through execution of the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE). This includes attending CORE meetings and providing feedback to the team regarding upcoming initiatives, assist with CORE initiatives (risk taxonomy updates, end-to-end process reviews, etc.), CORE maintenance
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • 7-10 years experience in Auditing, Accounting, Internal Control and/or Finance
  • Big Four public accounting experience and /or CA / CISA / CPA/CIA/ MBA certification preferred, internal audit / ITGC / automated controls testing experience required
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and attention to detail; demonstrated influencing skills; interact comfortably with staff at all levels
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; ability to synthesize data from many sources, design and draw persuasive conclusions for plans
  • A willingness to challenge conventional thinking and assumptions and to constructively dissent when appropriate.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work in an evolving environment, manage multiple projects and support a growing business
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Project management experience and specifically large-scale program management is preferred
  • Problem solving / Analytical skills - solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills; able to synthesize large amounts of data and formulate appropriate conclusions
  • Understanding root cause / identifying control breaks
  • Developing timely and sustainable solutions
