Summary As a member of a multidisciplinary team, develop and deliver a complete automation solution that includes system architecture, specifications, data sheet, application software, testing and commissioning ensuring the project meets customer, contract and regulatory requirements. An exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced Controls and Automation Engineer to join GE Power Conversion. The Controls and Automation Engineer will be responsible for delivering automation system projects primarily for Marine and Naval applications. Essential functions: Support engineering activity develop automation system from receipt of order to handover to customer for predominantly, but not limited to, Marine, offshore and Naval projects. Good understanding of different phases ofSoftware Development Life cycle (SDLC)including Design, Implementationand Testing during the development of software applications. Perform the functional design of HMI, PLC Architecture, Networks and Communications Interfaces using standard automation hardware and software components Work with the Drawing Office to produce equipment drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, cable interconnection drawings and interface schedules. Good understanding of Alarm & Monitoring systems, Integrated Automation System, Power Management System & Dynamic positioning system for marine. Good understanding of Industrial automation protocols such as Modbus, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus / ProfiNet, etc. Write PLC software using IEC 61131-3 programming languages i.e. Ladder diagram (LD), Function block diagram (FBD), Structured text (ST), Instruction list (IL) and Sequential function chart (SFC) Design, tag, and test automation mimics on HMI SCADA packages Plan and progress design and test activities to meet the required delivery dates manage change during the project using appropriate change management systems. When necessary, carry out a detailed field survey to assess the interfaces between the new and existing system. Perform factory testing of automation systems with customer and classification society. Support the commissioning and sea-trials for the project normally from the office test facility but with the possibility of visits to the vessel. Provide technical assistance to the sales, commissioning, and service teams. Create procedures, run tests on the automation system. Write concise reports / technical note for automation system. Carry out the tasks within the agreed time and cost. Communicates effectively with the team, suppliers and customers. Adhere to company rules and procedures. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering with 5 to 6 years\' experience. Desired knowledge and skills Execute plans with commitment and determination Provide technical training to customers and employees when required. Basic understanding of drive system: rotating machines, frequency converters, transformers, harmonic filters, circuit breakers, distribution boards . Commissioning / Service upgrade of Medium and large automation projects. Database & Programming languages GE\'s Proprietary development software P80i, EMS, MS Visual Studio, MS Office, MS Visio, Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of IEC61850 protocol, IEC624443 & NIST SP 800 cyber standards will be added advantage Desired characteristics Ability to work on tasks and projects simultaneously.
