Position Summary To lead Continuous Improvement agenda of the MILL by following the MOS, implementing 5S, Building Kaizen culture, and supporting in improving the Plant indices OEE, Waste and Conversion cost. To work as an active link between Pune and other Mills. Accountabilities Importance: _________1________ Percent of Total Job:_____50________% Major Action: (What you do and how you do it?). Lead Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvements program Deployment & Sustainability
  • Lead programs (5S, Visual management of OSI, Real time KPI) in the mill.
  • Lead Kaizen workshop to improve the mill KPI's (OEE, Waste, Energy and Maintenance consumption etc)
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Program" system in the mill, conducting monthly tracking via general ideas and evaluation session; quarterly CIP contest.
  • Lead the Health Check session to develop the short/middle terms plan for the Operation department to drive the continuous improvement. Execute these initiatives/programs through supporting activities with the help of Mill manager and relevant stakeholders in the mill.
  • Coordinate the implementation and sustaining of regional (Operational Excellence program, Sustainability ) CI projects
  • Monitor the progress of these initiatives at the mill through review and audits. Check and adjust to improve the effectiveness continuously.
  • Coordinate the weekly CI programs review with relevant stakeholders.
  • Enhance Operation meeting system (Shiftly, Daily, Weekly and Monthly meeting).
  • Incumbent will also be conducting observations, surveys and situation appraisal of CI culture (inclusive of performance dialogues) in the mill.
  • Conduct technical training such as Problem solving/Web-handling/5S to enhance capability at the shop floor.

  • Enhance Continuous Improvement culture (OPEX, CIP, Kaizen workshop, 5S ) and capability of the shop floor in the mill.
  • Become the top mills in APAC of Best Practice sharing and get back Kaizen\' between Pune mill and the APAC CI team in Quarterly basic

  • Overall performance increase in the mill (OEE, Waste, Reliability and Sustainability)
  • CI programs related KPI achievement in Pune mill

  • Execute the regular/irregular communication channel between departments to align with the overall OPEX approach and to activate the helpful information sharing.
  • Coordinate the cooperation activities of mill with the region for performance improvement and introduce best practices to ASEAN/APAC team.
  • Optimize management system contributing to the performance improvement (e.g., performance dialogues, visual management and problem solving activities) and introduce new programs for the mindset change of employees to focus on waste elimination.

  • Drive the process improvement activities in the mill by coordinating between Production, Engineering & other team to focus key issues & priorities for the mill.
  • Lead & coordinate the activities like problem solving sessions, focussed group activities to drive solutions.
  • Coordinate the MBC activities at the mill to ensure right mindset & engagement amongst employees.

  • Constant up gradation on skills for employees benchmarked with facilities
  • Benchmark facility to initiate a new program for KC.
  • Maximum number of improvements, successful CIP program

  • Operation KPIs like OEE, Waste, Change over and Centerlining.
  • Results of sustainability audit on OPEX, CIP and Kaizen workshop.
  • Employee engagement scores via Pulse survey and Health Check session

  • Coordinating a comprehensive visual management programs in mill with department manager and technical service manager to plan and implement visual management system and other related activities.
  • Monitoring and evaluate visual management implementation in mill by regularly basis.
  • Develop corrective actions for deviation of visual management implementation from expected.
  • Deliver ideas creative to build proper visual management design and programs, also working together with regional support for CI

Scope & Job Nature This position reports to Mill Manager. Incumbent is expected to use their understanding of process improvement such as 5S, Lean, Total Productive Maintenance, Total Quality Management, 6 Sigma, etc to ensure CIP, QMS and other K-C requirements are met. Building team capability and supporting in identifying the gaps and developing action plan. Roll out of Best practices and regular benchmarking with the best in the region / Global. Qualifications & Experience Essential
  • Degree of mechanical or electrical engineering with at least 8 - 10 years experience in multinational companies with knowledge in handling operation management, especially on continuous improvement program.
  • The position requires good hands on understanding of TPM, Lean Six Sigma concept and implementation, improving machine efficiency.
  • Understand and has experience in leading problem solving
  • People skill - ability to connect and influence the cross functional peers
  • English fluency in both writing and speaking and computer skilled in Microsoft basics, especially be able to create a macro software by visual basic & excel.
Desirable
  • In-depth knowledge and experiences in Total Productive Maintenance, 5R, and Lean Six Sigma & Manufacturing programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience vaious tool for problem solving and improvement (QC 7 tools, logic tree, 5why analysis , six sigma, value stream mapping)
  • Knowledge in process engineering is an advantage.
  • Good Communication / Presentation skill
