As a Continental Commis Chef, you will be an integral part of our kitchen team, supporting the preparation and service of high-quality continental dishes. This role requires a passionate and dedicated individual who is eager to learn and grow in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Food Preparation:
• Assist in the preparation and cooking of continental dishes as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
• Prepare ingredients by chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and performing other basic food preparation tasks.
• Ensure that food preparation areas are clean, tidy, and comply with health and safety standards.
• Cooking:
• Follow recipes and presentation specifications as directed.
• Cook and present dishes according to the restaurant's standards and specifications.
• Assist in managing the consistency and quality of dishes served.
• Kitchen Operations:
• Support the kitchen team in all aspects of kitchen operations, including stock control and inventory management.
• Assist in the daily cleaning of the kitchen and service areas to maintain the highest hygiene standards.
• Ensure proper storage and rotation of food items to minimize waste.
• Collaboration and Learning:
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
• Participate in training and development activities to improve cooking skills and knowledge.
• Take direction from senior chefs and be proactive in learning new techniques and recipes.
• Compliance and Safety:
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and best practices.
• Follow health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Report any maintenance or operational issues to the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
Qualifications:
• Education: A culinary school diploma or equivalent certification in culinary arts is preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in a professional kitchen, particularly in continental cuisine, is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Skills:
• Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
