Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and ambitious Continental Chef (Commis to Chef de Partie) to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for preparing outstanding dishes with a focus on Continental cuisine. From assisting in basic food preparation as a Commis Chef to overseeing a specific section of the kitchen as a Chef de Partie, this role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in a fast-paced culinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Food Preparation and Cooking:
• Assist in the preparation of a wide variety of Continental dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
• Ensure all food preparation meets the highest quality standards and complies with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Progressively take on more responsibility in food production as skills and experience develop.
• Station Management:
• Manage and maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned section in the kitchen.
• Ensure all mise en place is prepared and ready for service.
• Take charge of the section during service times, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
• Menu Development:
• Collaborate with the Head Chef and other team members in developing new dishes and menus.
• Contribute creative ideas for menu improvements and seasonal changes.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with other chefs, kitchen staff, and front of house teams to deliver a seamless dining experience.
• Support fellow team members and contribute positively to kitchen morale and camaraderie.
• Adherence to Standards:
• Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
• Uphold high standards of food quality, consistency, and taste.
• Training and Development:
• Continuously develop culinary skills and knowledge through training, workshops, and self-learning.
• Mentor junior kitchen staff and commis chefs as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Proven experience working in a busy kitchen environment, ideally specializing in Continental cuisine.
• Culinary diploma or degree from a recognized institution is preferred.
• Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
• Creative flair and passion for food.
