CONTENT WRITER: Researcher & Science Writer

Your opportunity We're looking for a talented and driven individual to research and write educational content for our course materials on a wide range of scientific topics - from nutrition biochemistry to microbiomics; eating psychology to neuroscience; genetics to nutritional epigenetics. As our Researcher and Science Writer, you will be investigating topics from peer-reviewed scientific studies, explaining experiments and findings in entertaining ways to keep our audience, clients hooked, while conveying the immediate practical application of the research findings. This is an opportunity to share your enthusiasm for practical science and behaviour change through researching the literature and writing pedagogically-rich resources that our clients, audience- will absorb and use to help their own health.

Your responsibilities include:

• Familiarising yourself with our certifications and products, brand voice and target audiences
• Meeting regularly with our Research Director to discuss new research and writing projects, learning objectives and different learner avatars
• Researching and translating the science into practical, written content on a wide range of subjects - from nutrition biochemistry to microbiomics; eating psychology to neuroscience; genetics to nutritional epigenetics
• Developing keyword lists, focusing topic searches and sifting the evidence from peer-reviewed journals and databases such as PubMed Investigating, examining and vetting studies for the production of learning materials Explaining complex scientific studies, experiments and findings in writing through using simple and conversational language
• Conducting literature reviews and writing key messages in a clear, coherent manner
• Conveying the utility and the real-life practical application of the subject being taught
• Making sense of inconsistent findings, clarifying the context and extracting what's usable for the student
• Organising portions of the content into charts and tables where relevant, and proposing visuals and graphics that illustrate the points being made
• Actively participating in creative meetings to brainstorm ideas and concepts for the words and visuals to be produced
• Editing written work for consistency across all materials created, eliminating contradictions and consolidating terms
• Revising, editing and proof-reading written content as needed Taking feedback from surveys and learner queries to research new topics or expand existing materials
• Keeping up-to-date with new published studies, developing resource lists and creating data complications
• Updating course materials regularly with new science that replaces old concepts
• Creating supporting learning materials, such as worksheets, quizzes, polls and questionnaires

Your qualifications and experience:

PhD/MSc/MRes/BSc/BA student (also open to very talented candidates or recent graduates) on any of the following subject areas:

• Nutrition biochemistry, dietetics, applied nutrition, nutrigenomics, eating psychology, nutritional neuroscience or similar from a top university, along with educational writing experience using plain language gained in either mainstream science education or science writing for layman audiences; or...
• Education, linguistics, pedagogy, science communication, health psychology, health sciences, medical sciences, social sciences, brain sciences, live sciences or similar from a top university, along with research and writing experience on nutrition biochemistry and related topics.
