Job Overview
This role is of a Controls and Information Systems Consultant with focus on developing GMI standard Controls Technology, applications and tools to minimize operations losses and enhance system performance and product quality. The position also involves rolling out and providing on-going support on plant control infrastructure for GMI International plants. Also the responsibilities require the incumbent to possess functional expertise in manufacturing plant engineering preferably in Food Industry along with project management skills to virtually provide consulting in Controls and Systems Engineering to assess, solve and improve plant productivity and optimize manufacturing costs

Main Responsibilities

80% of Time Business Results:
o Drive productivity (system utilization), reduce manual effort, production waste and manufacturing cost through strategic use of controls technology
  • Develop global GMI Controls/Systems solutions to meet the emerging business needs by leveraging plant process automation technology (viz. Wonderware Archestra, Siemens, Rockwell)
  • Identify operational, quality, system performance opportunities and then recommend / execute controls standard solutions and verify results
  • Share learnings across the CE/CIS Community
  • Serve as corporate wide resource
o Provide tactical operations support
  • Technical root cause analysis
  • Control system problem resolution
  • Provide diagnostic tools
  • Develop Documentation and Training Manuals
o Manage controls architecture
  • Optimize controls infrastructure to Support Business Needs
  • Ensure control systems reliability
  • Software / Hardware up to date
  • Manage Obsolescence
o Provide strategic operations support
  • Develop solutions to chronic problems
  • Plan and assist in Disaster Recovery Plans
  • Participate in developing long term CIS vision
  • Facilitate Relationships with Internal Partners (R&D, Process Technology Group, System Engineering)
  • Support Safety Strategies
o Perform as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Demonstrate Engineering Skills
  • Demonstrate Electrical and Control System and Platform Knowledge
  • Demonstrate Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements
  • Demonstrate Knowledge of Plant Operations
  • Work effectively in a cross-cultural virtual team using influence and collaboration
  • Coach and mentor other engineers on the team as well as plant employees
  • Develop basic CIS onboarding plan

Education and Experience

Minimum Degree Requirements: Bachelors
Preferred Degree Requirements: Masters
Preferred Major Area of Study: B. Tech / M. Tech in Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical
Required Professional Certifications: Controls Certification
Preferred Professional Certifications: PMP ( These certifications are not mandatory)
Minimum years of related experience required: 8 years
Preferred years of related experience: 10 years

Specific Job Experience or Skills Needed
  • Development, Implementation and Integration of Rockwell, Siemens, Wonderware Archestra System Platform, SQL Server Database
  • Experience in developing scripts using .NET
  • Demonstrated Organization Skills, Analytical, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Troubleshooting, Interpersonal Skills
  • Technical Leadership throughout all phases of project engineering with particular emphasis in adaptability for working in entirely new environments and teams
  • Ability to navigate through changes and uncertainty with professionalism
  • The willingness and experience to work hands-on is most important for this role
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and innovate, excellent team building and leadership skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels

Additional Information

  • Candidate should have demonstrated expertise and completed controls projects (preferably in FMCG industry)
  • This position reports to the Engineering Management group with the Supply Chain Division at GBS India. Hours of operation are 11 AM to 8 PM Mumbai time (Monday to Friday) with the ability to flex hours as the job demands
  • In performing these accountabilities, the incumbent must develop and maintain an effective working relationship with General Mills International employees at all levels across the company locations
  • The Job involves travel to worldwide plants on short term basis depending on business requirements.
