A Composites Technician is a skilled professional responsible for the manufacturing, repair, and maintenance of composite materials used in Aerospace industries. Their primary role is to work with composite materials, which are combinations of different materials, such as fibers (e.g., carbon, glass) embedded in a matrix (e.g., resin), to create strong and lightweight structures.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.xc3x98 Perform composite fabrication, repair and modification using hand tools to produce composite products.
xc3x98 Works with composites using pre-preg Oven & autoclave curing process, wet layup, resin infusion, Filament winding process.
xc3x98 Works with resins, fiber, and honeycomb materials.
xc3x98 Sands and grinds composite materials while wearing PPExe2x80x99s.
xc3x98 Correct structure discrepancies involving composite repairs.
xc3x98 Bench assembles, and installs composite components on metal components.
xc3x98 Adhesive bonding activity for composite structure assembly.
xc3x98 Uses manufacturing plan, written instructions, schematics, blueprints and other applicable technical documents to fabricate, repair, and modify composite structures.
xc3x98 Uses appropriate stamp to sign off completed work to include manufacturing planning, inspection discrepancy records, product assurance records and applicable program documentation.
xc3x98 Maintain a clean, safe and healthy work area.xc3x98 Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including production data, inspection reports, and material usage. Communicate any deviations, defects, or concerns to supervisors or engineers.xc3x98 Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and participate in safety training programs.xc3x98 Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to discuss project requirements, provide feedback, and suggest improvements. Communicate effectively to resolve issues and ensure smooth workflow.xc3x98 Continuous Learning: Stay updated with advancements in composite materials, manufacturing techniques, and industry best practices. Participate in training programs or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.xc3x98 Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot technical issues related to composite manufacturing or repair. Propose and implement solutions to improve efficiency, quality, or safety.xc3x98 Overall, a Composites Technician plays a vital role in the production and maintenance of composite structures, ensuring the highest quality standards are met while adhering to safety guidelines. They need a strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.SKILLS AND ABILITIES:xc3x98 Aerospace composite experience in prepreg layup, wet layup, filament winding, Vacuum infusion required.
