We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commis Chef to join our esteemed team at Barnhouse, our new farm-to-table dining establishment. Role Summary: The Commis Chef is responsible for the correct preparation and production of all foodstuffs, adhering to recipe cards, production procedures, and proper hygiene practices under the guidance of senior kitchen staff. They ensure high standards of food hygiene and safety while following kitchen standards and procedures. Reporting to the Sous Chef and Chef De Partie, the Commis Chef contributes to delivering food to the standards required by the establishment. Roles & Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Manage day-to-day operations of assigned section. \xc2\xb7 Ensure consistency in food quality and presentation. \xc2\xb7 Attend briefings for special functions as needed. \xc2\xb7 Maintain cleanliness, stock control, organization, and standards of the section. \xc2\xb7 Assist with daily ordering considering stock usage, menu planning, and business levels. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrate leadership by taking control of tasks and fostering team spirit. \xc2\xb7 Keep recipe folders updated and organized. \xc2\xb7 Minimize food waste and over-production of mis-en-place. \xc2\xb7 Contribute to reducing consumption of resources like gas, electricity, and water. \xc2\xb7 Foster good staff communication and relations. \xc2\xb7 Undertake any other duty consistent with the role. Education and Experience: \xc2\xb7 Culinary Studies or relevant field. \xc2\xb7 Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role. Physical Requirements: \xc2\xb7 Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods. \xc2\xb7 Work through warm/cold environments. \xc2\xb7 Ability to bend at the knee or waist. \xc2\xb7 Lift up to 12+kg.
