Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to absorb a great deal of information in a short amount of time.

Should be a quick learner because he will need to learn many tasks quickly while moving from station to station.

A good commis also will work well under pressure and tight time and space constraints.

Should have good knowledge of kitchen sanitation practices.

A lot of lifting, bending and quick motion is required.

Able to gracefully receive constructive criticism as well as effectively carry out orders.

Knowledge of all kitchen equipment operations.

Ability to read, writes, and understands English.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with management, staff, and guests.

Sense of smell, taste, touch, and sound.

Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity

Qualifications:

Exposure:

• High school education or equivalent. Culinary training or accredited apprenticeship program preferred.
• 2 or more years of experience as a cook or KOT in reputed hotel.

• Maintains high standards of food preparation and service in the appointed kitchen(s), according to the standards set by the Management.
• The commis must perform many basic tasks of food preparation and organization in the kitchen.
• commis must maintain high standards of health and safety, including personal hygiene.
• Needs to remain calm while multi-tasking, as they are often called upon to carry out many different orders simultaneously in a brief amount of time.
• Coordinate operations with Department Coordinators, Supervisors and other Departmental Managers to ensure operational readiness, efficiency in resource utilization, and the prompt delivery of services.
