Job Description

The Commis Chef in a pizzeria supports the kitchen team by preparing

ingredients, assisting in the cooking process, and maintaining

cleanliness in the kitchen. As an entry-level position, the Commis

Chef will work under the guidance of more senior chefs, helping to

ensure that the pizzeria operates efficiently during service. This

role provides an opportunity to learn the basics of pizza preparation

and develop skills in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- INGREDIENT PREPARATION: Assist in preparing pizza ingredients,

including chopping vegetables, slicing meats, grating cheese, and

portioning dough.

- DOUGH PREPARATION: Help with the preparation of pizza dough,

including mixing, proofing, and portioning for service.

- PIZZA ASSEMBLY: Support the kitchen team in assembling pizzas by

adding sauces, toppings, and other ingredients as directed by senior

chefs.

- BASIC COOKING: Assist with cooking pizzas, monitoring the ovens

under the supervision of more senior chefs.

- KITCHEN MAINTENANCE: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by

washing utensils, cleaning workstations, and storing ingredients

properly.

- STOCK MANAGEMENT: Assist in receiving deliveries and organizing

ingredients in the kitchen storage areas.

- ASSIST SENIOR CHEFS: Provide general support to senior chefs

(CDP/DCDP) during service, particularly during peak hours.

- LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT: Continuously learn pizza-making techniques,

kitchen processes, and food safety practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is a plus but not

mandatory.

- Basic knowledge of food preparation, particularly related to pizza

or Italian cuisine, is beneficial.

- Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a busy kitchen

environment.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently.

- Good organizational skills with attention to detail.

- Strong teamwork and communication skills.

- Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment.

- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices (or willingness to

learn).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Must be able to stand for extended periods in a hot kitchen

environment.

- Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are often required.

- Ability to handle fast-paced service during busy periods.

- May require lifting heavy ingredients or equipment as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?180,000.00 - ?240,000.00 per year
