Position Summary:
The Commis 3 is an entry-level position responsible for assisting the kitchen brigade in the preparation and service of food. This role is critical in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, adhering to the highest standards of culinary excellence. The ideal candidate will have a passion for continental cuisine, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and grow within the culinary industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Food Preparation:
• Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of continental dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Perform basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients.
• Ensure all food items are prepared in a timely manner and meet quality and presentation standards.
• Kitchen Operations:
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Assist in the proper storage and rotation of ingredients to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Help set up and break down the kitchen before and after service periods.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient and seamless kitchen operations.
• Communicate effectively with the Sous Chef and Chef de Partie to understand daily tasks and priorities.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Learning and Development:
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques and recipes.
• Seek feedback from senior chefs to improve skills and knowledge.
• Attend training sessions and workshops as required.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of continental cuisine and cooking techniques.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate to heavy items.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A culinary diploma or certification is an advantage but not mandatory.
