Job Overview :
We are looking for a skilled Commi 2 (Junior Chef) to join our kitchen team in Kochi . The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in the restaurant industry and possess a passion for cooking and maintaining high kitchen standards. A college graduate or someone with a culinary certification is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities :
• Assist in the preparation and cooking of food as per the restaurant's menu and recipes under the guidance of senior chefs.
• Ensure that food is prepared, cooked, and presented according to restaurant standards.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of your assigned station and kitchen area at all times.
• Ensure that food is cooked to the correct temperatures and adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist in the stocking and inventory management , ensuring that all ingredients are available and fresh.
• Work closely with the Commi 1 , senior chefs, and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Ensure that all kitchen tools and equipment are well-maintained and cleaned regularly .
• Assist with the training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff, if required.
• Prepare mise en place (ingredients and equipment for cooking) in advance for the day's operations.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure that health and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times.
• Assist in menu planning , suggesting ideas for new dishes or improvements.
• Support with any ad hoc kitchen duties , such as cleaning, preparation, and organizing food for service.
Key Requirements :
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the restaurant industry in a similar role (Commi 2 or Junior Chef).
• At least a college graduate or holds a culinary certification .
• Good understanding of food preparation techniques , kitchen operations , and safety standards .
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in food quality and presentation .
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle stress during peak hours.
• Male candidates preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours , including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Knowledge of food hygiene , sanitation procedures , and safety protocols .
