Job Summary :
As a Commi 1 - Pan Asian , you will be responsible for preparing and assisting with the cooking of high-quality dishes in the Pan Asian section of the kitchen. Your main responsibilities include ensuring food preparation meets the highest standards, adhering to hygiene protocols, and supporting senior chefs during service. You will play an important role in maintaining consistency in the presentation and flavor of all Pan Asian dishes.
Key Responsibilities :
• Food Preparation :
• Assist in preparing ingredients such as vegetables, seafood, and meats specific to Pan Asian cuisine (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, etc.).
• Ensure that all mise en place (pre-prepared ingredients) is ready for service.
• Cooking :
• Assist in cooking various Pan Asian dishes including stir-fried, steamed, and wok-based items, sushi, and dim sum.
• Follow recipes and presentation guidelines as directed by the senior chefs.
• Quality Control :
• Ensure consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation for all dishes.
• Check freshness of ingredients and report any issues to the senior chef.
• Health & Safety :
• Adhere to kitchen health, hygiene, and safety standards.
• Ensure all food storage areas are maintained at appropriate temperatures.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and utensils used in the Pan Asian section.
• Teamwork & Support :
• Assist senior chefs (Chef de Partie, Sous Chef) as needed during service.
• Work collaboratively with other team members in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist in managing stock levels for the Pan Asian section.
• Continuous Learning :
• Stay updated on new techniques, trends, and innovations in Pan Asian cuisine.
• Participate in any required training sessions to improve culinary skills.
Requirements :
• Experience :
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with at least 1 year in Pan Asian cuisine.
• Experience working with different cooking techniques such as stir-frying, steaming, and grilling specific to Pan Asian dishes.
• Skills :
• Strong understanding of Pan Asian ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in food presentation.
• Education :
• Culinary diploma or relevant certification from a recognized institute is preferred.
• Work Conditions :
• Must be willing to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Able to work in a high-pressure kitchen environment.
