Job Overview :
We are seeking a skilled Commi 1 (Junior Chef) to join our kitchen team in Kochi . The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the restaurant industry and possess the necessary culinary skills to support the kitchen operations. A college graduate or someone with a culinary certification is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities :
• Prepare food items according to the restaurant's menu and standards, ensuring high-quality taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
• Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts, under the supervision of senior chefs.
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
• Ensure the kitchen is well-stocked with the necessary ingredients and supplies, assisting in inventory management and order placements.
• Ensure all cooking utensils and equipment are clean and in good working condition.
• Assist in the training and guiding of junior kitchen staff.
• Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and portion sizes to ensure food is served promptly and at the correct temperature.
• Maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness within the kitchen at all times.
• Assist in menu planning and provide suggestions for daily specials or new dishes.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including the handling and storage of food.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to meet customer demands and resolve any kitchen-related issues.
Key Requirements :
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the restaurant industry as a Commi or Junior Chef.
• At least a college graduate or holds a culinary certification .
• In-depth knowledge of food preparation techniques , kitchen operations , and cooking methods .
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain food quality and presentation standards .
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Male candidates preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours , including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures .
