Job Title: Commis 1 (Indian Cuisine)
Job Overview:
The Commis 1 (Indian Cuisine) assists in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of Indian dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. This role involves maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene while learning and developing culinary techniques specific to Indian cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:
• Food Preparation:
• Assist in the preparation and cooking of Indian dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts.
• Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs to ensure consistency and quality.
• Prepare ingredients by chopping vegetables, grinding spices, marinating meats, etc.
• Cooking and Plating:
• Cook Indian dishes using various techniques such as frying, grilling, baking, and tandoori.
• Ensure dishes are cooked to the correct temperature and presented attractively.
• Assist in portion control and garnishing of dishes.
• Kitchen Support:
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
• Assist in the inventory management of ingredients and supplies.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards to ensure a clean and safe kitchen environment.
• Learning and Development:
• Continuously learn and develop culinary skills, particularly in Indian cuisine.
• Take direction and feedback from senior chefs to improve performance.
• Stay updated with new cooking techniques and trends in Indian cuisine.
Qualifications:
• Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Culinary school diploma or certification in culinary arts is preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in Indian cuisine.
• Experience in preparing and cooking Indian dishes is highly desirable.
• Skills:
• Basic knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking techniques.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
