Co-founder Needed for Kovai News - A Hyperlocal Digital News Platform

Kovai News is a digital newspaper, re-inventing the way news is delivered to readers in the Coimbatore region. With a focus on local stories, community events, and in-depth reporting, kovainews.com aims to provide a fresh perspective on current events, trends and insights to empower Coimbatore residents.

Our platform allows users to browse hyperlocal neighborhood news, entertainment and lifestyle posts and educational content for free. For local businesses, we offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional newspaper advertising where businesses can publish targeted classified ads, ensuring maximum relevance.

Users can also sign up, create public profiles, make friends, post stories, audio, video, polls, quizzes and more. With a loyalty system that rewards users for engagement and a shop section where they can redeem points, we're building a one-stop hub for local news, advertising, and more.

As we prepare for our official launch, we're looking for a Co-founder to help scale Kovai News to new heights.

What We're Looking For in a Co-founder :

We are seeking passionate, driven individuals who understand digital media landscape and shares our vision for revolutionizing local news and advertising in Coimbatore. You'll join as a co-founder with an active role in shaping the platform's future. Key responsibilities will include business growth, community engagement, and generating new opportunities for revenue and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities :

• Business Development : Establish partnerships with local businesses for advertising and sponsorships.
• Content Strategy : Oversee or assist in content creation tailored to our youth-focused audience (high school, college students, and general audience under 39).
• Marketing & Growth : Lead strategies to drive website traffic, onboard advertisers, and increase user sign-ups.
• Fundraising : Secure initial investments to help take the business off the ground and fund marketing efforts, content development, and operational needs.
• Community Engagement : Develop strategies to retain and grow our user base by maximizing user interaction, leveraging our rewards system, and providing value to readers.

Who You Are :

• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for digital media, local news, or advertising.
• Business acumen : Experience in marketing, sales, or business development.
• Ability to drive investment and strategic partnerships.
• Creative thinker who can contribute to content strategy and audience engagement.
• You're either from Coimbatore or have a deep understanding of the city's local culture and businesses.
• Prior experience in media, advertising, or technology is a plus.
