Organization Profile: Operations JOB TITLE: CNC Programmer Reports To: Advanced Mfg. (Fabrication) Job Summary: The CNC Programmer will create and maintain the program setup sheets. In addition, this position will maintain and/or change the floor routings and BOMs in SAP required for processing the parts through the fabrication and weld departments. The CNC Programmer / Operator will also be responsible for resolution of programming issues and any other project as assigned by the Manufacturing Engineer. Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma
An understanding of machining/fabricating fundamentals with demonstrated knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including blanking, forming, machining (punch press, brake press, laser, and CNC).
CNC Programming experience (G-code/M-code)
Experience with AutoCAD, Creo, SolidWorks, or ProE
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with both production and engineering employees
Strong problem solving and reasoning skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical school degree or certification
Preferred experience on equipment and automation consistent with metal fabrication, paint, and assembly operation.
Intermediate mechanical aptitude, ability to understand complex issues and systematically work toward resolution.
Ability to interpret drawings, schematics and machine specifications.
Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Write and maintain programs for Turret Punch, Laser, Laser/Punch Combo, Press Brake, and Waterjet equipment, as a minimum, using CAM software (AP100US, VPSS 3i, SigmaNest, or Stryker).
Determine the best sequence for faster and most reliable blanking (punch, laser) programs.
Maintain programs and data files to ensure revision control.
Nest parts (combining multiple part numbers or nesting single part number) on a sheet to maximize yield
Understanding CNC/Manual machine capabilities to assist in routing product or fixture development.
Constantly look for areas of common mistakes (e.g., internal errors, material mistakes, wrong dates, etc.) on jobs and drawings and get errors corrected.
Create flat layouts with the correct Bend Deduction or Bend Allowance for varying material types and thicknesses.
Apply techniques to mitigate areas of confusion with similar parts being produced simultaneously to reduce errors.
Read and interpret blueprint specifications to determine procedures, verify programs and tooling.
Participation in training sessions.
Knowledge of SAP labor routing process. Maintain existing labor standards and enter all weld and fabrication routings for new products.
Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Level of Independence:This position acts under the direction of the Advanced Mfg. (Fabrication) team.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; and talk and hear.
The employee is regularly required to walk; stoop; crouch; bend and reach above shoulders.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products.
The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
