Job Summary: The VMC & CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining vertical machining centers and CNC machines to produce precision metal parts and components. The operator will follow blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure that the final product meets quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Machine Operation:
• Operate VMC and CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, and turning.
• Load and unload workpieces onto the machine.
• Setup and Programming:
• Set up machines by installing and adjusting tools, attachments, and fixtures.
• Interpret and input CNC programs to ensure the machine operates according to specifications.
• Make adjustments to machine settings to improve performance and efficiency.
• Quality Control:
• Inspect and measure finished products using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Compare finished products to specifications and blueprints to ensure accuracy.
• Identify and report any defects or issues with the finished products.
• Maintenance:
• Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure they are operating efficiently.
• Keep work area clean and organized to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
• Documentation:
• Maintain accurate production records and logs.
• Document any changes to machine settings or programs.
• Report production output and any deviations from planned production.
• Safety:
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Participate in safety training sessions and drills.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or diploma in machining or a related field is preferred.
• Experience:
• Less than 2 years of experience operating VMC and CNC machines.
• Experience with CNC programming and setup is highly desirable.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and precision measurement tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical issues.
• Basic knowledge of computer programming related to CNC machines.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
