The role is based out of Mumbai and part of P&C SID MU Claims Team.About the team:The P&C SID MU claims team are an experienced group of claims professionals committed to delivering a comprehensive claims management service.The team links with P&C claims colleagues around the world to ensure that global best practices can be contributed to, identified and conveyed into the local market.Your main responsibilities will be:Management

• Contribute relevantly in terms of strategy, leadership, and functional content including claims management, as well as with more general, market and business-related insights.
• Efficient management of high value claims from first advice of loss to ultimate settlement.
• Identifying claims with a major impact on Swiss Re (SR); conducting a factual analysis; detailed review reserve setting; deciding upon SRs ultimate liability to pay. Accountable for implementing the right claim strategy for resolution of the claims including managing additional support as required, e.g. loss adjustors, legal, external experts.
• Monitor key developments and trends in the various markets and engage clients on topical trends and discuss key claims.
• Managing additional support as required, e.g., loss adjusters; legal, external experts, etc.
• Work closely with client management and underwriting in delivering the best in class claims services clients
• Providing run off portfolio management support
• Keep all internal stakeholders and cross functional teams updated in a timely manner and provide feedback loop on topics when available.
• Utilise a suite of analytical tools to manage the claims portfolio and provide greater insights via the data collected.
• Support Claims colleagues in the region with inputs and learnings from the Indian market
• Create an effective feedback loop of claims and underwriting with local UWs in Mumbai with aim to improve local underwriting expertise
• Monitor the claims expertise of various clients and provide effective feedback to internal CUWs

Thought Leadership

• Engaging clients on topical trends and raising SR\'s Thought Leadership on all lines of business to assist business development by being a trusted partner for our clients.
• Meeting clients to discuss developments on key claims or a selection of claims as part of a review exercise either pre or post deals.
• Monitor key developments, trends etc., in the claims landscape in the various markets that are covered, SID Market Unit and to analyse its impact on the portfolio of claims. Also, to advise internal stakeholders on impact of developments.

Detailed Job Functions (including local functions)

• The job requirement is to review & manage a diverse portfolio of claims covering predominantly Property/ Engineering as well as other lines of business such as Liability, Cyber, Credit & Surety and Agriculture claims in India & South East Asia markets. The scope also includes interacting with clients on primary policy wordings and conducting training programs on advanced claim topics.
• The candidate is also required to interact regularly with other members of Asia wide Claims Teams and be involved in local, regional & global projects, seminars, conferences, training workshops and professional development networks,

• The candidate will be required to undertake regional/ international travel, as required by the Head of Claims SID.
• Manage the claims portfolio via Portfolio Management holistic approach and differentiate between low touch & high touch claims and subsequent activity related to each category.

About You

• Significant technical P&C claims expertise across market-relevant products, demonstrated through peer recognition of capabilities in a technical role. Candidate should have minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience.
• A sound understanding of Insurance policy wordings in all Property/ Engineering lines of business. Experience on handling all casualty & financial lines claims would be preferred.
• Knowledge and experience within management of large value Property/Engineering/Constructions claims line with international exposure also preferred.
• A sound knowledge of reinsurance contract wordings and the importance of claims related clauses.
• Degrees in Law/ Engineering preferred and preference will be given to those with an additional insurance qualification of ACII or ANZIIF
• An ability to be persuasive in business discussions and negotiations
• Strong communication skills, ability to communicate effectively the technical viewpoint
• Ability to bring together expertise from Loss adjustors, legal firms, insurers, reinsurers and other stakeholders
• Strong communication skills and public speaking skills and the ability to lead industry-wide discussion
• Ability to work autonomously & think holistically
