A Chinese Commis 1's job description includes:
• Food preparation : Assisting with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes
• Quality and hygiene : Ensuring high standards of food quality and hygiene
• Following instructions : Adhering to all recipes, methods, and instructions from the Head Chef
• Maintaining standards : Ensuring that the preparation and presentation of food complies with the standards
Other responsibilities of a Commis Chef include:
• Measuring meal ingredients
• Seasoning meats
• Washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits
• Preparing basic salads and sauces
• Receiving deliveries and verifying quality
• Taking inventory of restaurant supplies
• Discarding spoiled food items
• Performing basic cleaning duties
• Plating and presenting meal items
Some requirements for a Commis Chef include:
• A high school diploma or equivalent hotel management course
• 2-3 years of work experience in a similar role
• Good understanding of food, health, and safety regulations
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer literate
• Able to lift heavy items
• Able to work holidays and weekends
