India was selected as one of the front runner countries to roll out the GenU, and thus it was officially launched in India (called YuWaah) by the UNICEF Executive Director in November 2019 through a joint initiative with Government of India and partners. Similar to global set-up, the governance structure of YuWaah includes a Board and supported by a Leadership Council composed of leaders in the public and private sectors committed to bringing transformative change for young people in India.YuWaah (GenU India) has benefited over 60 million young people - through opportunities for skills development and employment, career guidance, volunteering and volunteering. Central to YuWaah's efforts is the willingness and capacity to engage and meaningfully partner engage with young people's needs, ideas and aspirations.India's more than 350 million adolescents and youth (aged 10-24 years) makes up more than one-fourth of the total population. YuWaah's mission is to \'Enable India's adolescents and youth and connect them to aspirational socio-economic opportunities and engage them as active change makers".
