Job Description

1.

Water Quality Testing

Analyze water and sludge samples for pH, BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), TSS (Total Suspended Solids), nutrients (nitrate, phosphate), heavy metals, etc. Use techniques like

titration

,

spectrophotometry

,

chromatography

, or

ICP-MS

for detailed analysis.

Chemical Monitoring

Monitor levels of chemicals used in treatment (like coagulants, flocculants, disinfectants). Adjust dosages of chemicals based on lab results to optimize treatment efficiency.
3.

Compliance and Reporting

Ensure water discharged from the plant meets

local and national environmental standards

(e.g., EPA, CPCB). Maintain accurate records and generate reports for internal use and regulatory agencies.
4.

Process Optimization

Evaluate chemical treatment processes and suggest improvements to reduce costs or enhance performance. Work closely with process engineers to modify or optimize chemical dosing systems.
5.

Research and Development

Investigate new treatment technologies, alternative chemicals, or process enhancements. Test new treatment methods on a small scale before full-scale implementation.
6.

Safety and Chemical Handling

Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals. Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and follow safety protocols.
7.

Instrument Calibration and Maintenance

Calibrate lab instruments regularly. Ensure lab equipment is functioning properly and troubleshoot issues as needed.
