• Collects recyclable materials from designated areas throughout the institution according to established procedures and the New Mexico Solid Waste Act.
• Operates a variety of recycling equipment and vehicles such as baling machines, forklifts, and trucks.
• Assists in the planning and coordination of routing and collection operations based on available staff and equipment.
• Ensures confidentiality of recycled materials from pick-up point through the end of recycling process.

• Leads, guides, and/or trains recycling techs and students in applicable procedures and techniques.
• Assists in preparing simple procurement bid specifications and proposals.
• Communicates with campus community regarding the recycling program, and requests for new or additional services.
• Provides support and problem resolution to campus community and customers as it relates to recycling programs.
• Observes the flow of recycled materials and makes recommendations to the number of bins provided, and frequency of pickups.
• Confirms accurate care in the disposal of chemicals and/or medical materials that are improperly placed in recycle bins.
• Prepares newspapers, batteries, lamps, and other materials for recycling and proper disposal.
• Ensures care in the proper handling and use of equipment and supplies.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
