Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Chinese Chef de Partie to join our culinary team at Oberai Bakers and Cafe. The ideal candidate will have expertise in preparing authentic Chinese dishes, ensuring the highest standards of taste, presentation, and quality. As a key member of the kitchen brigade, you will manage your designated section, assist in menu planning, and support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation and Cooking:
• Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Chinese dishes, including but not limited to dim sum, stir-fries, noodles, soups, and traditional sauces.
• Follow standardized recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation standards to maintain consistency.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared and served promptly while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Section Management:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of your designated section, ensuring the efficient and smooth running of the kitchen during service.
• Manage food inventory and ensure proper stock rotation.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene standards in the kitchen at all times, in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with other chefs in the kitchen to ensure a coordinated and effective workflow.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff, sharing knowledge and techniques to improve team performance.
• Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef with the implementation of new menu items, seasonal specials, and food promotions.
• Quality Control:
• Ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the restaurant's quality standards in terms of taste, presentation, and portion size.
• Conduct regular taste checks and ensure that ingredients are fresh and of high quality.
• Identify areas for improvement in preparation techniques or kitchen operations and suggest improvements.
• Health and Safety:
• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations, ensuring that your section complies with legal requirements.
• Maintain proper food storage procedures, ensuring food is stored at the correct temperature and is properly labeled.
• Keep your work area clean and organized at all times, following kitchen safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Chinese Chef de Partie or in a similar role, with a strong background in Chinese cuisine.
• Culinary diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of Chinese culinary techniques, cooking methods, and ingredients.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A passion for food and a dedication to maintaining high culinary standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?20,000.00 - ?25,000.00 per month
