he Chartered Accountant (CA) in a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry plays a crucial role in managing the financial health of the organization. This position involves overseeing financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. The CA will collaborate with senior management to provide strategic insights, ensure cost control, and support business growth through effective financial management.
Key Responsibilities :
• Financial Reporting & Analysis :
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they are accurate and compliant with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
• Conduct variance analysis between actual financial performance and budgets, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Provide detailed insights on the financial performance of individual restaurant units and the company as a whole.
• Ensure that all financial reports are prepared in a timely manner for senior management and stakeholders.
• Budgeting & Forecasting :
• Lead the budgeting process for the QSR business, working with various departments to prepare revenue, cost, and capital expenditure forecasts.
• Conduct financial forecasting for business expansion, new restaurant openings, and other strategic initiatives.
• Review and advise on the cost structure of restaurant operations to improve profitability.
• Taxation & Compliance :
• Ensure compliance with corporate taxation laws, including GST, VAT, Income Tax, and other relevant taxes.
• Prepare and file accurate tax returns on time and manage audits from tax authorities.
• Advise management on tax planning opportunities and strategies to optimize the tax position of the business.
• Internal Controls & Risk Management :
• Develop and enforce internal control policies to safeguard the company's assets and financial integrity.
• Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
• Cost Management & Profitability Analysis :
• Analyze cost drivers in the QSR business such as food costs, labor costs, and overheads, and propose strategies for cost optimization.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as food cost percentage, labor cost percentage, and other operational metrics.
• Provide recommendations for improving profitability and enhancing financial performance.
• Cash Flow Management :
• Monitor and manage the company's cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations and expansion activities.
• Oversee cash management processes, including the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Stakeholder Communication :
• Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and transparency.
• Work closely with senior leadership to provide actionable financial insights that drive business decisions.
• Business Advisory :
• Act as a financial advisor to the management team, providing recommendations to improve financial strategy, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
• Support the finance team in evaluating new business ventures, partnerships, and investments from a financial perspective.
Qualifications and Requirements :
• Education : Chartered Accountant (CA) with a recognized qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• Experience :
• Minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in finance, accounting, or auditing, preferably within the retail, food & beverage, or QSR industry.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Tally, QuickBooks, etc.) and MS Excel.
• Strong understanding of financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Knowledge of tax laws, corporate taxation, and compliance requirements in the QSR or retail sector.
• Skills :
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with management, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, if applicable.
Desired Skills :
• Experience in multi-location operations or managing the financials of a chain of restaurants.
• Knowledge of industry-specific metrics like food cost ratios, labor cost efficiency, etc.
• Ability to drive automation and efficiency in financial reporting and processes.
• Exposure to international tax laws if dealing with cross-border operations.
