The Lifecycle Customer Marketing Writer spends the bulk of their day working on transactional communications that are vitally important to the customer in order to manage their Avalara products, and subsequently their sales tax and compliance landscape. One day is never the same as the next and projects can move quite quickly. The necessity for the communications are often dictated by outside sources such as government legislation or external vendor requirements, so priorities can be dynamic and change rapidly. You will work closely with a variety of Avalara subject matter experts as well as other teams such as Legal, Editorial and Operations, to ensure accurate and engaging customer email communications, as well as the supporting documentation for internal Avalara team members. This role offers an opportunity to directly impact the customer journey with Avalara! Job Duties: Writing of multiple emails per week, and sometimes per day, typically short and transactional in nature Writing of Frequently Asked Questions or accompanying clarifying articles and internal talking points. Must be comfortable using a business intake format (JIRA) and minimal research to create content due to the rapid nature of most of the projects Daily use of the JIRA ticket management system is required as well as reporting outstanding tickets using the submission queue This role works most closely with other Lifecycle Marketing team members (currently US based) so time management will be important Multiple projects are in process at any given time, so project management skills are a must Zoom meetings are often required to understand the requirements of the project and communicate timelines Bachelor\'s Degree 5+ years of experience in marketing, journalism, editorial, communications, or other related field that required writing experience 1+ year of Marketing experience preferred Strong level of Google Docs or Microsoft Word proficiency Jira familiarity required Highly proficient written and spoken English language skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to adhere to style guides as provided by Avalara to ensure preferred language is used and maintained Ability to be a self starter and work independently High sense of urgency and ownership Editorial experience with familiarity with standards such as the Chicago Manual of Style or similar preferred, but not required
