1. Performs duties in compliance with universal precaution and infection control
2. Adheres to department standards for on call coverage
3. Obtains required patient history and/or consents, reviews for accuracy, completeness and verifies patient identification and information prior to procedure
4. Verifies lab results prior to procedure to determine that the results are within the normal ranges for procedure and that the patient is a candidate for administration of contrast material according to protocol
5. Responsible for cleaning equipment, exam rooms and keeps an orderly work area for improved efficiency
6. Utilizes computer system within the hospital guidelines
7. Proficient in required computer programs, documentation and computer charting
8. Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, Invasive Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic Program or Respiratory Therapist Program
9. Cardiac or special procedure experience - Preferred
10. ECG interpretation experience - Preferred
11. Opens sterile packs and prepares instrument table for catheterization procedure
12. Greets patient and makes comfortable with department surroundings
13. Prepare patient for catheterization procedure
14. Assess the patient's status on arrival and throughout the procedure by demonstrating knowledge of electrocardiographic, hemodynamic, and hematological data
15. Assist physician during procedure
16. Observes patient for any complications of catheterization procedure
17. Observes all fluid infusion and patency of catheters
18. Assists supervisor in accurately recording charges for procedures
19. Attends all hospital mandatory in-services
20. Demonstrates a willingness to maintain a harmonious working relationship with physicians, and other staff members.
21. Assist physicians during cardiac, angiography and other related procedures
22. Apply ionizing radiation using proper techniques
23. Select and prepare appropriate supplies, contrast media and equipment for cardio, angiographic and other related procedures
24. Under the supervision of a Radiologist, (A) performs Cat Scan, Interventional Radiology or Mammography, and/or routine imaging procedures
25. Perform radiographic procedures such as chest films (adult and pediatric), upper and lower GI, IVP, and extremity films
26. Demonstrate documentation on patient care records and unit forms
27. Transports patients to department in a timely manner
28. Maintains unit supply and equipment inventories as indicated
29. Performs surgical preps in accordance to established policy and protocol
30. Assists with patient positioning and lifting
31. Cleans surgical areas and equipment using established cleaning processes within required timeframes
32. Assists in the application of splints, casts, and other rigid dressings
33. Provides traction application of varying degrees of complexity under direct physician guidance
34. Assists with delivery of surgical specimens to the laboratory
35. Stocks all work areas and replenishes rotating inventories as directed
36. Obtains and delivers items essential for patient care as directed
37. Assures safe disposal of bio-hazardous materials
38. Adheres to standards of universal precautions
39. Assists operating room staff personnel in the smooth transition between surgical cases
40. Under the supervision of a the Imaging Manager, Cath Lab Manager, Radiologist, or supervising physician operates radiographic equipment to obtain radiographs of a designated portion of the body, adhering to established departmental policy/ procedures and state guidelines, using best practice to ensure lowest dose possible
41. Perform skillfully in hemodynamic and ECG monitoring, including interpretation of data.
42. Resource person for all diagnostic and interventional invasive cardiology procedures.
Accountable for maintenance and repair process for cath lab equipment
