The Cashier is responsible for handling customer transactions at the point of sale efficiently and accurately while providing excellent customer service. They play a vital role in creating a positive shopping experience by assisting customers and ensuring smooth checkout operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Point-of-Sale (POS) Operations
• Process cash, credit/debit card, and digital payments accurately.
• Issue receipts, refunds, or exchanges following company policies.
• Ensure proper scanning and bagging of items.
• Customer Service
• Greet customers and address their inquiries courteously.
• Resolve minor customer complaints or escalate them to a supervisor when necessary.
• Promote special offers, loyalty programs, and store initiatives.
• Cash Handling
• Maintain and balance the cash drawer at the start and end of each shift.
• Safeguard cash and handle discrepancies according to company procedures.
• Operational Support
• Assist in replenishing checkout counter supplies (bags, receipt rolls, etc.).
• Help with shelf stocking or floor operations during off-peak hours.
• Follow store policies regarding returns, exchanges, and pricing issues.
• Compliance and Cleanliness
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company regulations.
• Keep the cashiering area clean, organized, and well-maintained.
Job Specification (JS): Cashier - Retail FieldQualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of arithmetic for cash handling.
• knowledge of basic computor (like word, excel, power point)
Experience
• Previous experience as a cashier or in customer service (preferred but not mandatory).
