Job Overview:
The CAIE French Language Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality French language instruction to students in middle and high school following the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) curriculum. The role involves developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and promoting a stimulating learning environment that fosters language proficiency and appreciation of French culture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Delivery:
• Plan and implement engaging lessons based on the CAIE curriculum standards for French.
• Ensure that lessons are appropriately structured to meet the linguistic needs of students at different levels (Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and AS/A Level).
• Assessment & Evaluation:
• Design formative and summative assessments to measure student proficiency and progress in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
• Provide timely feedback to students and track their development according to CAIE assessment objectives.
• Language Development:
• Create an immersive language environment by using French as the primary mode of communication in class.
• Encourage the appreciation of French-speaking cultures through extracurricular activities, such as cultural events, French language clubs, or international collaboration projects.
• Classroom Management:
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning, collaboration, and student engagement.
• Apply appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary, in alignment with school policies.
• Professional Development:
• Stay updated with the latest trends in French language education and CAIE standards.
• Participate in school-based professional development sessions and contribute to curriculum planning with other language faculty.
• Parent & Student Communication:
• Maintain open communication with parents regarding student performance, progress, and areas for improvement.
• Conduct parent-teacher conferences and prepare progress reports as needed.
• Extracurricular Involvement:
• Assist with organizing language competitions, international exchanges, and French cultural days to promote the French language and culture.
• Support students in preparing for external language certification exams if applicable (e.g., DELF/DALF).
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in French Language, Literature, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Teaching qualification or certification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE).
• Experience with CAIE curriculum and exams is highly desirable.
• Fluency in French and proficiency in English.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Passionate about teaching and cultural exchange.
Experience:
• Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience in an international school setting or familiarity with the CAIE curriculum.
• Experience in preparing students for Cambridge IGCSE French exams or equivalent external exams.
