As a Cafe Operations: Supervisor at Bombay Sweet Shop, you will assist the Front-of-house team with getting packaging ready and replenished and help stock & set up the store, and assist with other daily duties assigned by the Manager.This role will report to the Cafe Manager and will be based out of multiple locations all over Mumbai.Our flagship restaurant, The Bombay Canteen showcases the wealth of Indias cuisine by recreating local, seasonal dishes and reinterpreting age old Indian culinary traditions in a frequently changing menu. Our next venture, O Pedro, pays homage to the energy of Goa in a menu that brings back the fun of tropical living with simple, sophisticated food and drink, with influences from the states Portuguese history. Bombay Sweet Shop is a modern day mithai shop which brings back the magic of mithai in a never seen before avatar, in a fun and contemporary way, while staying deeply rooted in traditions and techniques. Our online venture - enthucutlet is a bimonthly food mag that brings you unusual stories about food in India, and our all-day cafe Veronica's, holds a piece of Mumbai's heart in the iconic Jude Bakery, and showcases the best sandwiches, coffee, bakes, and wine! Our newest restaurant, Papa's, launched in February 2024, boldly breaks the rules of Indian cuisine and fine dining to offer an elevated and adventurous interpretation of its comforting forms and flavors.Responsibilities:Supervise FOH staff and provide guidance and support as needed.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and decor.Train front-of-house staff on service standards, menu knowledge, and upselling techniques.Manage reservations, seating arrangements, and waitlists to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction.Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests, resolving issues promptly and courteously.Handle cash transactions and operate the POS system accurately.Monitor dining room operations to ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.Collaborate with the Cafe Manager to develop and implement marketing initiatives and promotions.Bombay Sweet Shop is a modern-day mithai shop and Hunger Inc.'s third space, after The Bombay Canteen and O Pedro, which feature in Conde Nast Traveler's Top 10 Restaurants in India. Our dream is to bring back the magic of mithai in a never seen-before avatar, in a fun and contemporary way, while staying deeply rooted in traditions and techniques.Our mithais are delivered within Mumbai and all over India. This year, we continue to scale new heights and present at more locations across the country and thats where we need YOU!RequirementsQualifications:Excellent customer service and communication skills.Attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area.Problem-solving skills and ability to handle customer inquiries and complaints.Ability to work as per cafe shifts.Minimum 2 years experience in restaurant or cafe management, with expertise in front-of-house operations.Team player with previous customer-facing experience.Diploma preferred in any field.Basic computer and POS skills.*This job description is a summary of the role and does not cover a comprehensive listing of activities or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
