Job Description

Position Overview:

As a cafe waitress, your primary responsibility is to provide excellent customer service to guests while ensuring efficient operations within the cafe environment. You will be the face of the establishment, responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and delivering a positive dining experience to all patrons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service:
• Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding seating.
• Take orders accurately and promptly relay them to the kitchen staff.
• Provide recommendations on menu items, specials, and beverages.
• Ensure timely delivery of food and drinks to tables.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a courteous manner.
• Operations:
• Set up dining areas before opening and ensure cleanliness throughout shifts.
• Maintain stock levels of supplies such as napkins, utensils, and condiments.
• Process payments through cash, credit cards, or other forms of payment.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and efficient service.
• Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Teamwork:
• Work collaboratively with other waitstaff and cafe personnel to ensure seamless service.
• Assist in training new staff members as needed.
• Support colleagues during peak hours by taking on additional tasks.
• Additional Responsibilities:
• Upsell menu items and promote specials to increase sales.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
• Handle takeaway orders and ensure accuracy in packing and processing.

Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a waitress or similar role in the hospitality industry.
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of hygiene and safety standards.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift trays of food or beverages.
• Comfortable working in a busy and sometimes noisy environment.

Education and Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in food handling or safety training (preferred).

Working Conditions:

• Work is typically indoors within the cafe setting.
• May involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
