  • Promoting accountable risk and control decision-making, desired behaviours and a positive risk culture
  • Enabling the business to clearly, consistently and comprehensively articulate the risk profile of the business/service/process, including the integrity of processes and controls, or risks that may take the risk profile of the business outside of tolerance
  • Identifying trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment
  • Supporting Risk Owners, Business Service Owners, Control Owners and Risk Stewards through proactive advice based on NFR framework knowledge and insights
The Opportunity:

The First Line Risk and Control team is responsible for assisting with and supporting the effective governance and management of non-financial risks in the First Line of Defence. The focus of the role is to support the effective management and monitoring of controls for GPB ASP.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:
  • Participate in validating the design and operating effectiveness of the key controls through inspection, inquiry, observation, sampling, re-performance and recalculation.
  • Participate in the review of risks and key controls through end-to-end process walkthroughs, events or thematic reviews, data-driven reviews or issue read across, and evidence reviews.
  • Participate in activities to help ensure control assessments are accurate, effective, comply with procedures and templates, and meet quality control requirements.
  • Assist with the promotion of accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis
  • Assist with the provision of specialist risk and control knowledge and insights
  • Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment
  • Support the challenging of poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours
  • Help identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Educated to graduate level (or equivalent level of experience) (M)
  • Strong Excel (particularly large data sets / modelling) and report production (M)
  • Prior Business Management & Experience of producing high quality reporting to tight deadlines (E)
  • Prior Team Management experience or strong inclination towards people & team management (E)
  • Stakeholder Management ability to engage and build effective relationships with team and stakeholders (E)
  • Strong communicator \xe2\x80\x93 able to express ideas via various communication channels (E)
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences (E)
  • Ability to investigate items in detail / Meticulous attention to detail (E)
  • Ability to work with info from various systems and make sense of data /express clearly with assumptions used (E)
  • Ability to deliver on time and at a consistent professional level (E)
  • Recognised strong organisational skills. (E)
  • Experience within Financial services (E)

  • Analytical analysis, data mining and scenario modelling experience (E)

What additional skills will be good to have?
  • GPB wide role - The Role Holder will communicate regularly with various offices globally and all levels of seniority including all the product specialist teams.
  • The jobholder will be required to support the management of programmes/projects and governance forums, representing his/her team as appropriate
  • Understanding of financial reporting aspects and moderate level knowledge of all investment, banking, insurance and credit products offered by GPB. Knowledge of operational, trading and overall business knowledge would be beneficial.
  • Highly professional approach, competent with the ability to work independently and drive forward elements of key GPB product and service-related projects.
  • Exercise any/all delegated authorities with due care and diligence.
Major Challenges
  • GPB CCO Team needs to ensure processes implemented are robust, transparent and fit for purpose will be crucial in enabling the success of the team.
  • Continual development is required by the role holders in understanding of a complex global business and changing regulatory environment.
  • Continual need to improve in-depth understanding of operational process/procedures and systems needed to support GPBs complex product and service offering.
  • Effective and strong global stakeholder management required across all levels within the business and functions.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking and engage with different stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Tight deadline management of own tasks and tasks within a project
  • Steep but wide learning curve across a global complex business with a diverse product range.
