Business Development Lead - International Market

The incumbent will be leading the exports function at Godrej Industries Ltd - Chemicals business.

Godrej Industries (Chemicals) is one of the oldest businesses of the Godrej Group. We are proud to have pioneered the manufacturing of Oleochemicals in India, back in 1963. Today, we are one of India\xe2\x80\x99s leading Oleochemicals players and manufacture and market over 100 chemicals for use in more than 24 applications. We are expanding our reach globally and our products are exported to over 80 countries in North and South America, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa. At our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Valia (Gujarat) and Ambernath (Maharashtra), we drive a relentless focus on productivity and energy efficiency. Over the last couple of years, we have been investing significantly in building our Research and Development capabilities to grow our value added products portfolio. We produce over 160,000 metric tonnes of chemical products annually, for use in home and personal care, rubber processing, polymer, pharmaceutical and industrial applications. Safety is a non-negotiable core value for us. Quality, Environment, Health and Safety standards at our factories have global certification.

Over the last decade, we have diversified aggressively on our product portfolio to include value added specialty products. At the same time, we are also investing significantly in Research and Development to enhance our capabilities and grow our product portfolio. We recently set up a Research and Development Centre at Ambernath and a plant at Valia to develop our new range of products.

Your Roles & Responsibilities

  • Drive market development and achieve sales plans for international B2B partnerships for new and existing customers and distributors. Build new profitable revenue streams by winning new customers and expanding our distribution presence, as well with any other partnerships. Focus on North America & Western + Eastern Europe.
  • Enhance the visibility of our company in the NA and EU markets, penetrating all target segments and building our share.
  • Managing P&L of the assigned territory via appropriate Promotions, Pricing, Distribution Strategies & Tactics, supported by dynamic portfolio management as well as launching innovations.
  • Gaining and analysing market intelligence and conducting any required market research, as well as specific competitor evaluation. Tracking economic conditions, estimating the potential of specific countries, segments and customers to focus activities to drive quick wins.
  • Travel extensively to the focus countries to drive business progress and sales growth, gainng market share and represent the company in international trade fairs/exhibitions, association meetings. Develop, and maintain relationships with various government and private industry personnel as relevant.
  • Work in collaboration with the business managers for the different business units, so that the right portfolios are developed and driven as well as appropriate pricing strategies are adopted.
  • Appointing new Distributors/Trading Agents/Business Partners in the Target market/ Focus countries after entering to valid legal confidential Agreement.
  • Work in coordination with the customer support, regulatory, finance and other teams as needed to ensure all compliances and processes are conducted as needed. Coordinating with the factories as needed for production, shipments, and tracking order fulfilment.
Over time build, manage and motivate a team that will support the international business development, with the eventual objective being to make this segment 50% of the company\xe2\x80\x99s revenues

Position Requirements

Qualification:

B.E (Chemical) & MBA (International Business preferred)

Experience:

15 Years +

Critical Skills:
  • Strategic agility; understanding International Business trends.
  • Excellent B2B selling skills, including key account management
  • Strong Communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Innovative thinking & proactive approach.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Strong technical orientation to understand our product lines.
  • Strong business acumen and good financial understanding, including FTAs and export processes
  • Executive presence to build top-top customer relationships
