Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified B.Pharmacy Professional to join our hospital pharmacy team. This role involves managing the dispensing, labeling, and delivery of medications for both in-patient (IP) and out-patient (OP) services. The ideal candidate will ensure that prescriptions are accurately filled, labeled, and dispensed in compliance with medical and regulatory guidelines. The professional will also provide essential medication counseling to patients and work closely with doctors and nurses to ensure proper medication management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accurately dispense medications to in-patients (IP) and out-patients (OP) based on prescriptions, ensuring correct dosages, forms, and labeling.
• Ensure all medications are properly labeled with the patient's name, dosage instructions, expiration date, and other relevant information.
• Verify prescriptions for accuracy and ensure compliance with hospital policies and legal regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing, including documentation of patient prescriptions and inventory usage.
• Manage the storage and handling of medications, ensuring proper stock levels and adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
• Counsel patients on the proper use, dosage, and potential side effects of medications, especially for OP patients.
• Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective use of medications for patient treatment plans.
• Monitor and review patient medication charts for in-patients, ensuring timely administration and preventing medication errors.
• Assist in the preparation and compounding of medications when necessary, following standard pharmacy procedures.
• Handle the safe disposal of expired or damaged medications according to hospital protocols.
• Stay up-to-date with pharmaceutical regulations, hospital policies, and best practices in medication dispensing and management.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm).
• Valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the local regulatory body.
• 1-3 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy or clinical pharmacy setting.
• Strong knowledge of medications, dosages, pharmaceutical regulations, and prescription interpretation.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medications and labeling.
• Good communication skills for providing patient counseling and working with healthcare professionals.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Familiarity with pharmacy management software and inventory tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in both in-patient (IP) and out-patient (OP) services.
• Knowledge of drug interactions, side effects, and proper dosage guidelines.
• Certification in clinical pharmacy or related specialization is an added advantage.
