Job Title: Interior BOQ Estimator Job Overview:
The Interior BOQ Estimator is responsible for preparing and analyzing project cost estimates for interior fit-out and design projects. This role involves working closely with project managers, architects, interior designers, and suppliers to ensure that the project is completed within the financial budget while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• BOQ Preparation:
• Prepare and develop detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for interior design projects, including materials, labor, and other related costs.
• Break down the project scope into cost components and evaluate quantities and materials required for each phase of the project.
• Collaborate with designers and project teams to fully understand the design intent and project specifications.
• Cost Estimation:
• Estimate costs based on interior design drawings, architectural blueprints, and specifications.
• Review tender documents, plans, and project specifications to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Identify and analyze potential cost variations and risks.
• Material Sourcing and Vendor Coordination:
• Research and source materials and suppliers for cost-effective solutions.
• Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, comparing prices and negotiating the best deals.
• Ensure that the chosen materials align with design specifications and budget constraints.
• Budget Management:
• Assist in preparing project budgets, updating cost plans, and monitoring expenditures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Track project costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractors, and ensure that expenditures are within the project budget.
• Provide recommendations on cost-saving opportunities without compromising design quality.
• Collaboration:
• Coordinate with architects, interior designers, contractors, and project managers to ensure the BOQ reflects the project needs and requirements.
• Attend site visits, client meetings, and project discussions to provide updates on cost estimates.
• Reporting and Documentation:
• Prepare reports outlining estimated costs, material breakdowns, and budget forecasts.
• Maintain detailed records of BOQs, estimates, and cost tracking documents for reference and auditing purposes.
• Assist with financial reporting, billing, and invoicing as required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Interior Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost estimation, quantity surveying, or a similar role, preferably in interior fit-out projects.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and interior design drawings.
• Strong understanding of construction materials, interior finishes, and labor costs.
• Experience using cost estimation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, etc.).
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
Skills:
• Advanced mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost estimation.
• Familiarity with interior design trends, materials, and market prices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and estimation software tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
