#### Job Overview :
Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for companies, including recording day-to-day financial transactions, preparing financial statements, reconciling bank accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role is crucial for ensuring that a business's financial operations run smoothly.### Key Responsibilities :
For both UK and USA:
• Record Financial Transactions:
• Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts and posting transactions.
• Ensure accuracy in accounts payable and receivable.
• Maintain Ledgers:
• Post and reconcile cash receipts, expenses, and other financial data in ledgers or software systems.
• Track and manage credit card and bank transactions.
• Prepare Financial Statements:
• Generate balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and other financial statements.
• Collaborate with accountants for periodic audits and tax reporting.
• Bank Reconciliation:
• Reconcile bank accounts at monthly intervals, ensuring accuracy in bank balances and statements.
• Payroll Processing:
• Process employee payroll, ensuring timely payments and compliance with local laws.
• Manage and file payroll taxes.
• Compliance and Reporting:
• Ensure adherence to legal accounting practices and reporting standards in both jurisdictions.
• Assist in preparing documents for tax filing and regulatory audits.
• Expense Tracking and Budgeting:
• Monitor expenses and help in preparing and managing budgets.
• Identify and rectify discrepancies in financial data.
• Software Usage:
• Use bookkeeping software like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or other accounting software.
• Ensure data integrity and backups of financial information.
### Key Skills and Qualifications :
- Experience :
2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably with small to medium businesses.
- Experience working with small and medium-sized businesses in the UK and US markets is a plus.
• Knowledge of Local Regulations: Familiarity with UK-specific (FRS, VAT, HMRC) or US-specific (GAAP, IRS, state taxes) regulations.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to manage large volumes of data with accuracy.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial reports and identify trends or issues.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in bookkeeping software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, etc.).
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting financial matters to management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
