VACANCY FOR BID ENGINEER - AIR COOLED HEAT EXCHANGERS

This position will be quoting Alfa Laval products and services for air cooled heat exchanger applications. Serving customers to identify needs and designing solutions to meet air cooler requirements. Providing direct support to customers, including complex quotations and supporting remaining sales team in new sales opportunities.

The position / About the Job:
In this job the Bid Engineer would be responsible for:
Key Tasks and responsibilities:• Receives inquiries from potential and current customers, reviewing relevant inquiry documents and specification. Understand customer drivers to make the right proposals. Attend meetings with customers and consultants, when required.
• Uses Alfa Laval proprietary software and industry standard software to size and price air coolers to meet the specific needs of potential customers.
• Optimizes designs through knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• Provides written proposals that accurately describe the coolers and comments resulting from spec review. Ensure competitive, accurate and timely formulation of quotation documents, in coordination with relevant internal stakeholders.
• Proactive risk assessment. Participate in Project Sales Plan (PSP) review, when required. Review of customer contract. Identify, understand and coordinate potential risks happening on the execution phase and endeavour to eliminate or mitigate them in bid stage.
• Assist sales by responding to technical inquiries in a timely manner.
• Use the CRM tool and other tools in a consistent and qualitative way, to support the sales process and decisions
• Works with customers to educate and develop their staff to be more knowledgeable about the product.
• Assists Manager with other tasks as needed.
• Identify areas for improvement to increase sales efficiency and competitiveness. Actively consulting Customer, Sales and Operations colleagues, also via lesson learnt.
• Support and interact with sales companies globally.
• Support improvements in bid process
• Drive development of tools, templates for bids.
• Follows all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourages action assuring safe behavior; confronts unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures.
• Conducts themselves in a considerate, professional, cooperative and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors and visitors.


Organizational Components (level of functional responsibility, relationships, level of direction received, and ability to initiate work):• Takes direction from Bid Engineering Manager to establish daily priorities.

Who you are?
As a person, you are customer oriented, a team player, outgoing, proactive with a willingness to learn & collaborate with associated stakeholders. You are structured in your approach & comfortable with working on multiple overlapping assignments. You have a discerning eye for the details as well as able to have a holistic view of the situation.
Your background / skillset• Engineering degree (mechanical or chemical preferred) having at least 3 years of experience in the field of quotation preparation or project management
• Thorough knowledge of fluids and heat transfer
• 1 yrs. experience working with heat exchangers or pressure vessels.
• Knowledge of API, ASME, PED, and other pressure vessel codes a plus
• Experience with engineering calculation software.
• Experience with MS Office Suite
• Collaborative, solution-oriented approach with strong oral and written communication skills
• Fluent in English
