Job Description

The Bengali Cook is responsible for preparing traditional Bengali dishes and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This role requires expertise in Bengali cuisine, including knowledge of spices, cooking techniques, and authentic recipes. The Bengali Cook will work closely with other kitchen staff to create a memorable dining experience for guests and ensure a smooth operation in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation:
• Prepare and cook a variety of Bengali dishes including, but not limited to, traditional curries, rice dishes, and sweets.
• Follow recipes and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency and high quality.
• Utilize traditional Bengali cooking techniques and spices to create authentic flavors.
• Menu Development:
• Assist in creating and updating the Bengali menu based on seasonal ingredients and guest preferences.
• Provide input on new recipes and menu items that highlight Bengali culinary traditions.
• Ingredient Management:
• Select and purchase high-quality ingredients, including spices, vegetables, and meats, ensuring they meet the establishment's standards.
• Maintain proper inventory levels and manage the storage of ingredients to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
• Kitchen Hygiene and Safety:
• Adhere to hygiene and safety standards, including proper food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness.
• Ensure that all kitchen equipment and work areas are cleaned and maintained properly.
• Quality Control:
• Monitor and ensure the quality of food preparation and presentation.
• Conduct regular taste tests and adjust recipes as needed to maintain flavor and consistency.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work effectively with other kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen assistants.
• Provide training and guidance to junior staff on Bengali cooking techniques and practices.
• Customer Service:
• Occasionally interact with guests to gather feedback on Bengali dishes and make adjustments as needed.
• Ensure that all dishes meet the establishment's standards for taste and presentation.
• Administrative Duties:
• Assist in menu planning and recipe documentation.
• Keep records of inventory usage and report any issues or discrepancies to the kitchen manager.

Qualifications:

• Education: Culinary diploma or relevant culinary training preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience as a Bengali cook or chef, with a deep understanding of Bengali cuisine and cooking techniques.
• Skills:
• Proficient in traditional Bengali cooking methods and the use of spices.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes precisely.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry items up to [specific weight], and perform tasks that require bending and reaching.

Work Environment:

• This role requires working in a professional kitchen environment, which may involve exposure to hot surfaces and cooking equipment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?8,086.00 - ?15,000.00 per month
