The Behavioral Counselor will be responsible for supporting students' emotional, social, and behavioral well-being. They will work closely with students, parents, and teachers to foster a positive school environment, provide counseling interventions, and develop strategies to address behavioral challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct one-on-one and group counseling sessions to address behavioral, emotional, and social issues.
Assess students' needs through observations, discussions, and collaboration with teachers and parents.
Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to support students with behavioral challenges.
Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution strategies.
Conduct workshops and awareness programs for students, teachers, and parents on topics such as stress management, bullying prevention, and emotional intelligence.
Collaborate with school staff to create and maintain a positive and inclusive school climate.
Maintain detailed and confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions.
Refer students and families to external mental health professionals when necessary.
Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in behavioral counseling and student support.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
Certification in counseling or child psychology is preferred.
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in school counseling or a similar role.
Strong understanding of child and adolescent psychology.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and school staff.
Empathy, patience, and a deep commitment to student well-being.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with behavior modification techniques and therapeutic interventions.
Knowledge of mental health issues affecting school-age children.
Familiarity with special education needs and inclusive education practices.
Ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.
