Job Summary
The BDS Doctor (Dentist) is responsible for providing high-quality dental care to patients. This includes diagnosing dental conditions, developing treatment plans, performing dental procedures, and offering preventive care. The role requires a thorough understanding of dental science, excellent patient communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a clinical environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care and Diagnosis
• Conduct Comprehensive Dental Examinations : Assess patients' oral health through visual examinations, X-rays, and patient history.
• Diagnose Dental Conditions : Identify dental issues such as cavities, gum diseases, oral infections, and malocclusions.
• Develop Treatment Plans : Create and discuss customized treatment plans based on diagnoses, including procedures like fillings, crowns, root canals, and extractions.
Treatment and Procedures
• Perform Dental Procedures : Execute various dental treatments, including cleanings, restorations, extractions, and periodontal therapy.
• Administer Anesthesia : Provide local anesthesia and sedation as required for dental procedures.
• Manage Dental Emergencies : Address urgent dental conditions, including pain management, trauma care, and emergency extractions.
Preventive Care
• Educate Patients : Provide guidance on oral hygiene practices, diet, and preventive measures to maintain dental health.
• Develop Preventive Programs : Create and implement preventive care strategies for individuals and groups.
Clinical Duties
• Maintain Accurate Records : Document patient history, treatment plans, and progress notes in the patient management system.
• Ensure Infection Control : Follow protocols for sterilization, hygiene, and safety to prevent the spread of infections.
Professional Development
• Stay Updated : Keep current with advancements in dental technology, techniques, and best practices through continuous education and training.
• Participate in Professional Activities : Engage in dental associations, attend conferences, and contribute to the dental community.
Administrative Tasks
• Manage Appointments : Schedule patient appointments, manage time efficiently, and maintain patient flow.
• Handle Billing and Insurance : Assist with insurance claims, billing processes, and manage patient payments.
Qualifications
• Educational Requirements : Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a recognized institution.
• Licensure : Valid dental license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
